INSECT PROBLEMS (TICKS, CHIGGERS, MOSQUITOS, BEES)
Bee and Wasp Stings:
Topical treatments:
-Put a drop of peppermint or eucalyptus oil on sting.
-Hold a slice of onion on the sting for a few minutes.
-Make a paste of baking soda and water and apply it to the sting.
-Sprinkle an alka-seltzer tablet with enough water to make it fizzy and then lay it on the sting.
-Rub the sting with a handful of grass release the chlorophyll.
-Use wet snuff or tobacco on the sting.
-Use wet meat tenderizer as a poultice on the sting.
-Make a paste out of crushed aspirin and apply it to the sting to draw out venom.
-Drink 7-up immediately to avoid allergic reaction.
-Squeeze a bit of lemon juice onto the sting.
Ticks:
-Cover an attached tick with Vaseline to make them back out.
-Cover the tick with clear nail polish to suffocate them.
-Burn with a needle, point of knife, or other pointed metal objects, heated very hot and touched to the ticks back. The tick will retreat.
-Twist out counter clockwise as a last resort.
-Cider vinegar in the diet encourages ticks to find other victims.
-The color blue seems to attract some of the tick species.
Chiggers:
-Take a shower immediately after being exposed to chiggers and you will wash most of them off.
-Chiggers attach where ever clothing is tight on the body: socks, waistline, underwear line, wrists, and collars.
-Treat chigger bites with oil of pennyroyal.
Mosquitos:
-Taking 100 mg of Vitamin B1 will encourage mosquitos to find other victims.
-Don’t eat bananas during the mosquito season.
-Wipe your exposed skin and clothing with Bounce Fabric Softener sheets to repel mosquitos.
-Avon Skin So Soft will repel mosquitos.
-Use pure vanilla extract on your skin to repel the little blood suckers.
-Catnip will repel mosquitos in solutions as diluted as 1/10 of 1%.
-Get a toad and install a bat house.
