Food
Glorious Food!Oliver! was the star studded musical for 1991/2. Alex Newman had the lead role, with John Newman as the dodger. The play was unusual in that several staff also had starring roles - witness Mr Wardell (Sykes) busy murdering a year 11 Nancy. (right) |

Right: More of the poor; spot Charlotte Studd, Colin Wood and Ed Hurley. |
Left:
Danielle, Fiona and Rowena look suitably glum.
Other cast members included the surprisingly well suited Mr Houlbrooke and Ms Ambrose as The beadle and wife, and who could forget Mr Evans as Fagin, taking his role so seriously that he sent three of his fourth year French class to Chaucer Avenue one afternoon to try to get few car stereos. |

Above: Amongst others, Kirsty H, Howard S, Mark B, Danielle, Charlotte B, Louisa L, Fiona M, surrounding Alex N and Sarah H. Oliver memories? For me it was painting the back wall, which took ages, and being knocked off my chair by Mr Wardell during one rehearsal when he took his role of Bill Sykes to heart. Oh, and the gun which should have gone off in the wings when Sykes was shot, but jammed one night and managed to shoot him after he had fallen. Overall judged to be a good show. |
