Wow! Is it cold out here all of a sudden, you would think that if it was 76 last Tuesday that there would be no way 30 degrees would show up in the same week? Than again we are in Ohio, and the weather here can be very unpredictable to say the least. Now don’t get me wrong, but the weather is nothing like Wyoming! That place will always hold a special place in my heart when in comes to weather. I remember the first season that I spent in Wyoming, it was December 14th and I had just taken some friends to the airport in Denver which was about 150 miles south east of Laramie. The weather was amazing, in fact I believe that it was about 48 degrees and we had not had any snow yet that year. However, the following couple of days some clouds moved in you know and on the 16th when I got up to drive myself to the airport, and it was a different story! -45 degrees with the wind chill, yep, you read it right minus 48! And two feet of the fluffy white stuff. I guess that is what you get for living at 7200 feet?

If there are any wealth nuts out there are people that are actually eating to affect performance not just because the food is there, I have an amazing protein bar for you. This is no "crap" bar either I will not eat anything loaded with filler and garbage. Jason Hammond, a former teammate of mine in Wyoming via Cal State North Ridge, is working for a supplement distribution company in Fresno. The company is Europa sports and they carry 150+ brand names in supplements, no favoritism here and he knows the inside word of each supplement’s worth. So with that being said he turned me onto a little unknown company "the good ones always are" called Chef Jay’s Trioplex bars. A bar that is actually made form a whole oat source and carries a whopping 31 grams of protein and only 11 impact carbs. Tastes awesome and if you want to checkout the site and follow my link to Jason Hammond and the bars are at www.trioplex.com.

Jud traveled out to the University of Washington this past weekend to help Bud Rasmussen with the first ever North West Hammer Clinic, and the preliminary word is that the clinic was a success with more than 70 athletes in attendance. I hope that with people like Bud Rasmussen the future of hammer development can continue! Bringing in the best coach in the country to teach those that normally would have not had the chance to ever see Jud Logan up close. I wish that I could have been there myself having been a Rasmussen disciple myself and a Pacific Northwest Local(British Columbia. It would have been nice to see the worlds mesh. For those that were unable to attend the camp, don’t forget that there are two camps that I recommend on either side of the country. The IronWood Throwers camp held every summer in the Pacific Northwest and Jud Logan field event camp held around the same time here in Ohio. As the information becomes available I will certainly keep everyone updated.

Training here has shifted gears ever so slightly with us dropping of the dead lift {thank you} and the addition of the progressive range power clean and front squat. For those out there that have never done a progressive range power clean this is the break down. We are currently doing six positions, so each set is six reps. The first rep is from the high hang or notch at the top of the thighs. The second pull is from a mid quad, the third is from the tops of the knees, the fourth is from one inch below the knee, five is from a mid shine and the sixth is from the floor. That’s it one set and we will do four sets right now. Great way to prepare the system from the pull and the heavy weights to come while working through the weak areas and functional weakness.
