Art -- By Draven. (Updated!)

About the Artist:

How many ways are there to describe myself? I'm an artist in search of the ultimate quest: finding the reflection of something bigger, something higher, that lies within. Over the past years I've traveled extensively, through the world and the USA, from California to Switzerland, from Colorado to Seattle, to France and then to Maine, always looking for that one elusive thing -- truth. It lies in all of us; hidden, dormant. The artist's job is to find that truth, see it, reflect it. Like pieces of a broken mirror, scattered from a wreck -- each one a fragment of light.

I work in oil paints, pastels, and charcoal and pencil; I do portraits, many "on-the-spot". But I also am always searching for the perfect reflection.... a reflection that often times falls into the category of surrealism. Who's afraid to look beyond what our eyes and senses tell us? Sometimes it takes shaking up the world we know to find the world beneath.

Right now I'm struggling; but I keep doing what I do. Isn't that how we go on?

Welcome to "Art By Draven"! Here, you'll have the opportunity to share my vision; share my quest for what has been called Duende -- that which cannot be adequately named. Here on this site you can browse the pieces that have been put up here for display and sale --with new pieces being added frequently -- as well as read the artist's comments about the pieces, and order digital prints or the works themselves directly from your computer! And in the process, you'll probably learn a little bit about me -- Angel Draven -- and hopefully, a lot about yourself as well.

Because if art is an examination of something that is greater than as well as beyond any one of us, then the examination of art is.... well.

Art in itself. Come on in.... look around! Let's get started by clicking on one of the links below:
