The colourful world of Cody, Poco and Star.
The colourful world of Cody, Poco and Star.
Cody, Poco and Star are American Paint Horses. Descended from horses introduced by the Spanish conquistadors, Paint horses became part of the herds of wild horses that roamed the Western deserts and plains. Native Americans revered the Paint, which they believed to possess magical powers. Popa Top Cody, known as Cody, was born in 1988 in Missouri. He is a gelding now, although he was a stallion until he was nine, during which time he sired 18 foals. His color is Palomino Overo. Cody competes in eventing, rides on the trails with his owners, and occasionally goes in local parades. Ima Poco Star, known as Poco, was born in Florida in 1993. She is a sorrel overo, or chestnut. After we bought her in 1998, she had a colt we named Pocos North Star, or Star. Star, who is also a sorrel overo, got his name from the white five point star on his neck. Poco and Star are mostly trail horses, although Poco has competed in hunter events and hunter paces. All three horses live in Monterey, MA.

How refreshing to see Cody jumping! I have a seven month old palomino overo APHA colt (has a long way to go!) whom I have large plans for. It's so exciting to see other paints doing those sort of "non stock horse" types of things. :)
