2005-2006 SEASON
UNDER 6s RESULTS

All our regular matches were played on Sundays in Neath
This was our first season, and, win, lose or draw, we enjoyed playing against all the other teams.
On 16th October 2005 we had our first ever win. We had a few wins after that !
We won the Garden Village Tournament, and in the last tournament of the season we didn't lose a single match.
The Garden Village Under 6s team improved continually throughout the year. The boys' superb teamwork helped
them successfully cope with the loss of some good strikers during the season, and the end-of-season tournaments
saw them finish with a flourish, producing a string of strong performances, and excellent results.
A big thanks to Dave, our coach and manager, and to Alex for helping.

Group Matches

A sunny day, some lovely football, and all the boys had really put their hearts into each game.
Both teams were now through to the semi-finals. A brilliant result.
 

Semi-Finals

Garden Village were beaten by a very good Plough Colts team, and Garden Village Colts, after beating
 Bryncoch, were now going to face Plough Colts, the only team to have beaten them in the competition so far.
Were they nervous ? Not at all, they were looking forward to the rematch.

Time for a team talk

In the Final, all the Plough Colts attacks were stopped dead by the solid Garden Village Colts defence,
allowing the midfield players to pass the ball forward again and again to the strikers, who kept plugging
away in the Plough Colts half. At full-time there was still no score, so the match went to extra time.
Eventually the boys determination and teamwork paid off, and Jay slammed the ball into the net for a
well-deserved win.

This was the boys' first tournament, and they played superbly, despite the tiny pitch, which cramped their

Today was the boys' best performance as a team this year. Daniel made a superb long pass to Morgan, which helped
Morgan to score. Morgan also took a  corner, which went straight to Dexter, and Dexter slammed it with his left foot
into the back of the net. Dominic made a great solo run, and when he was brought down, deep in the other half, he rolled
and came back up, still with the ball. Lewis and Jonathon each played a game in goal, and both did really well, making
some good saves, although Dominic and Jack D were excellent in defence, and did really well keeping the ball away from the Garden Village goal. Geraint and Scott were solid in midfield.



Scott, Geraint, Dominic and Jack D worked the ball forward well with runs and passes to the strikers, who all had some shots at goal. There was hardly any bunching together or tackling their own players, and everyone knew which way they were playing ! Excellent teamwork and loads of effort helped the team to a good result to end the year.
Well done boys, and Merry Christmas !

When looking at these results, please remember that the team's
performance is a result of the efforts of the whole team.
It is easy to just look at goals scored. Remember that saves, tackles, runs
and passes are just as important to the team's results. 
It is also impossible for any of these results to reflect the level of effort,
commitment and enthusiasm shown by all the boys week after week.
