PRESENTATION
DAY
May 20th 2006

An
early start this year as Andrew, Tony and Gwyn felt that they did not have
enough time last year so they were taking no chances! The event was to be held
in a fabulous marquee which would have been ok if the weather had been better
but unfortunately we appeared to be in a wind tunnel and expected to be swept
away at any time.
Tony
was the first up with much praise for his girls who enjoyed a good season, the
parents were anxious in case he took as long as last year making the girls wait
for two hours before they received their trophies, so an alarm clock was
strategically placed with last years “old boot “at the ready if it went off
before he was finished speaking she was to make a grab for the mike.
The most improved player of the year went to Kayleigh. Tim’s girls were equally praised for their team spirit and
determination. He was just as eloquent with his words but decided his girls
shouldn’t have to wait for their trophies so just got on with it, and the player of the year went
to Hannah.
Next
up were the dynamic duo the Morecambe and Wise of Garden Village or should it be
the Chuckle Brothers? After fighting over the mike they finally started the
awards ceremony for the under 13s

They
had much praise for their girl’s particularly the back-bone of this squad who
turn up every week for training and on match days and give 100% each time. The
season has been a difficult one with changes in coaches and the decision to
field two teams (which unfortunately only really worked on paper) but the
girl’s determination and team spirit carried them on, resulting in winning the
West Wales League Plate final with Gwyn at the helm. This was a tremendous boost
for the regular girls and we hope that next season will see them go from
strength to strength. With Morecambe and Wise now at full throttle, getting them
of the stage would become even more difficult.
The most improved player of the year for the Colts went to Josie with
Carys getting player of the year, most improved player of the year for the
Juniors went to Atom with Lorna getting player of the year. Well done girls and
good luck to you all for next season.

Louise, Angela and Sandra
were presented with flowers but the honour of the night, the Golden (or Old as
Andrew prefers) Boot award went to Sandra presented by last years Old Boot,
Debbie which she handed over with much grace and the odd threat about winning it
back next year, along with complaints that Sandra had her name on her boot
whilst she didn’t!. There is much dispute over the allegation that the match
reports contain false entries about certain people but I can assure you that all
the match reports are based on fact such as that Sandra is really only 23 slim,
blonde and secretly dating David Beckham (D.B to his mates)! Well done to Angela
who was voted chief cheer leader by the supporters club and to Jan who was voted
the best navigator!!!!! (Ha ha)

This
is the face of an angry contender for the Old Boot award who cannot believe that
after all her vocal support (tantrums and tears) at the games this season, she
was passed over. Never mind better luck next year. I
can see a battle for this coveted award already brewing. Look out Gwyn and Tony,
Julia and Debs are going to go head to head! (Sandra will be busy with D.B.).
Denise
decided to leave the country rather than have to watch Gwyn, which was
probably a wise decision!

PRESENTATION EVENING 2005

This year's Presentation Evening, shared
with the Under-8 Boys, was held
on 1st July at
Llwchwr Working Men's Club. Players, coaches and parents all had a good evening.
Tony, Andrew and Tim delivered speeches outlining
their respective team's
achievements and hopes for the future, and thanked Steve, Kim, Becky, Jason and
Louise.
All the coaches praised the girls for their skill, commitment, teamwork, and
positive attitude.
After a line-up of very proud girls received some well-deserved trophies,
the following special awards were presented :-
2004-2005 Under 12 Player of the Year - Olivia
2004-2005 Under 12 Most Improved Player - Rosaria
2004-2005 Under 10 Player of the Year - Charlie
2004-2005 Under 10 Most Improved Player - Rachel

The night that all the girls have been
looking forward to was a great success, with fun and laughter all the way.
The first presentations of the night were for the Under 10s Girls Squad. With
Tony on fine form, they only had to
wait about an hour to get their hands on any trophies ! Tony and Tim were both
as proud of their girls as any
parent would be, and their speeches reflected this. After thanking everyone that
he could possibly think of,
Tony finally gave out the long awaited trophies. With every girl deserving high
praise, Player of the Year went
to Charlie, and Most Improved Player to Rachel.

Next was the trophy-giving for the Under
8 Boys Squad. Jason was also extremely proud of his boys, but he
didn't feel he needed the full hour to tell them this, so got on with handing
out the trophies to the excited lads.
Player of the Year was James, and Most Improved Player was Nick.
By now, the anticipation of the Under 12 Girls could hardly be contained, with
Rosaria still desperately trying
to find out who was going to get their hands on Player of the Year and Most
Improved Player. Apologies from
Steve on his absence left Andrew to hand out trophies. There was some
apprehension over this, as he had been
spotted earlier buying some Dutch Courage, but. rising to the occasion, he did a
fine job conveying how proud
he was of all the girls who had stuck by the team through some troubled times.
They are a fine bunch of girls
who have shown determination and dedication towards their football, and are much
appreciated by Steve and
Andrew alike. On this note, Andrew did try to make his speech last longer than
Tony's, but I'm afraid Tony
had it hands down. The Player of the Year went to Olivia, and the Most Improved
Player to Rosaria, who was so
pleased, she kept quiet for all of 2 minutes.

Well Done to all the members of the Garden Village Squads !
A great night was had by all, with the karaoke going down well with the children
and adults alike. The children did
have some trouble getting near the microphone. This was not caused by the
microphone being out of reach, but
rather certain parents hogging it. there were even some surprise guests,
including a very dodgy-looking Elvis,
although we should be flattered he decided to choose the Bug to start his
come-back tour, a very gay looking band
of Bob the Builders, and a couple of Jamaican hillbillies pulled in off the
street.

Elvis did a couple of turns accompanied by the Blues Brothers (one looking
suspiciously like our Katie). As Elvis
has been deceased for some time, he was a bit rusty, but managed to shake off the
rigor mortis long enough to
wiggle his old hips around before spectators started asking if Elvis would leave
the building, with the loudest call
coming from his poor daughter. The Bob the Builders gave a great performance,
with energetic, and some might say
heroic efforts from all members of the band. there is a rumour on the grapevine
that Simon Cowell is thinking of
offering them a recording deal (we hope they remember who gave them their first
break). The singing of the guests
left a lot to be desired, with the best performance of the evening being between
either The Girls' Mums, or a young
lad called Leon. Being in no way biased of course, this reporter gives The
Girls' Mums the deciding vote as Act of
the Night. The raffle went very well, with all the children desperate to win one
of the coveted footballs, insisting
that all the winning parents turn down the alcoholic prizes on offer.
A big Thank You to everyone involved with the evening for all their hard work in
making the children's evening a great
success, with special mention to Andrew and Louise (who, it has to be said.
looked very funky with her new hairdo).
May next season be as successful and enjoyable as this last one for everyone
involved

The Coaches, in recognition of
all their hard work, each received a framed copy
of the specially commissioned picture above for them to treasure
It must all seem so worthwhile to them now |
