Garden
Village vs Dafen Welfare
The
first match of the afternoon gets off to an unfortunate start with Dafen scoring
in the first minute which sets the tone for the rest off the match.
Village struggle to get the ball whilst Dafen play some good football.
Josie, Lorna and Holly work hard to give Amy-M a shot at goal but luck
was not with us as she sends it wide. Dafen push forward yet again and catch out
our defence resulting in another goal which sends Andrew into meltdown as he
yells at the girls whilst Gwyn (secretly also in meltdown) more calmly tells the
girls that this was just a warm up for them and they can do better.

Village vs Peniel
After
a good talking to by Gwyn Village go out to play with renewed spirit and get off
to a flying start. Josie and Holly in midfield tackle hard and win a number of
corners which Josie takes well and they are unlucky not to score. Atom, Megan
the destroyer and Rosie do a fine job of keeping the ball away from Carys who
just does not want to be there. After some fine football Amy-M scores
giving Carys the opportunity to come out of goal and with some trepidation Rosie
(on the basis that she was nearest to Carys) was put into goals, she took to it
well making sure hair was looking good the gloves fitted well and most
importantly could she swing from the cross bar (answer yes) the supporters club
were slightly concerned as Rosie is blind as a bat but not to worry Josie and
Amy-M make sure that the ball does not actually come near her. We have been
informed by reliable sources that Rosie is having contact lenses this week so we
can look forward to her actually seeing the big round thing called the ball!
With all the action in the Village half it was not long before another
goal was produced this time Amy-M sends a cross which lands at Josie’s feet
which she then launches into the back of the net.

Garden
Village vs Mumbles
Garden Village go into their next match with more confidence but a good Mumbles
squad make this a hard match, Mumbles soon score followed by a great goal from
Amy-M. Josie and Holly work hard to
keep control of the midfield with Megan the destroyer and Atom along with Lorna
holding the defence.
The game
is played from one end to the other with some good passing and hard tackling
from both teams but it was Mumbles who took the next goal, by which time poor
Carys seemed to have lost heart with her life as a goalie. After some heavy
tackling from Josie Amy-M scores again taking it to 2 all, but before we had
time to celebrate her goal Mumbles had put another in giving them a 3-2 lead,
although Village battled hard the final whistle came just to soon for them.

Village vs Dafen
Village
take on Dafen with our brave Tigger now in goal and Holly taking her place up
front. Village play well with
Tigger making some fine saves allowing Josie and Rosie to get the ball to Holly
who was unlucky not to score after some good attempts at goal (in after match
interview she reliably informed us that it was the wind and not her aim that was
the problem!)
Dafen again break through the
defence and although Tigger makes a great save the incoming rebound just sneaks
past her giving Dafen the lead. Holly (it was the wind) and Josie desperately
try again for goal but stopped by the Dafen goalie.
Unlucky girls!

Village vs Bancffosfelin
Village
now take on Bancffosfelin Holly (it was the wind!) is injured after trying to
catch the ball with her mouth in the last game hope we hope she makes a speedy
recovery as she has become a valued member of the Village squad. Tigger again is
our courageous goalie who throws herself at the ball like a missile making some
great saves unfortunately she is injured as a player decides to use her head for
a ball whilst she was on the floor, (holding the actual ball) but does this put
her off not a chance after some medical care she is on her feet and taking the
free kick, Way to go Tigger!.
Village
battle hard with even Atom getting forward but it was Josie who scored another
cracker giving Village the win sending the supporters club wild. Regrettably
Village were only one point
from making it through to the semi-finals better luck next time.

A freezing cold windy afternoon sees Village take on Llanelli Reds at home this week. The village girls know they are in for a battle today and they are thrown right in as Llanelli start with some good passing and with a shot at goal which goes wide.
Village midfield Holly, Jenna and Josie manage to get control sending Olivia forward but the Llanelli defence hold strong and are soon attacking the Village goal again, this time they don’t miss. Llanelli `s confidence continues to grow and they carry on to score again. Atom and Megan the Destroyer along with Becci make a strong defence with Carys making a couple of fine saves, Village battle on bravely but with half their team already having played one mammoth game against a team of Amazons on a full sized pitch they were bound to struggle.
Andrew shouts encouragement from the side line with Gwyn stomping up and down the line driving them on. Llanelli turn up the pressure scoring again but Village don’t give in and try to push forward again but every time Olivia turns around she is surrounded by a sea of red shirts.
Village continue to fight back but are eventually beaten 7-0
Never mind girls you all played well.

Squad List: Atom Jenna Holly Megan Olivia Jenny Lorna Josie Amy-M Rosie Elle Emma Becci Carys Katie Rosaria
The weather today was dry and cold with a biting wind but this does not put off the Garden Village girls who turn up on mass this week. After last weeks match Village know they have a lot to do but are still determined to go out and play some good football.
Llanelli as usual are off and running from the whistle although our Midfield and defence work hard the Reds manage to gain control of the ball resulting in a goal.
Andrew all on his own this week whilst trying to give all the girls a game finds it difficult to keep the rhythm going with all the changes he has to make leaving him with steam gushing from his ears and a very sore throat. Llanelli continue to control the game and score some cracking goals.
Village as usual refuse to give up and eventually they find a way through Llanelli’s defence with Jenny scoring after some great passing starting from Elle passing to Josie who takes it away and finds Olivia who passes to Jenny to score. Some lovely simple football with controlled passes, this goes to show that they can do it when they try. Atom, Megan the destroyer and Holly help to keep the defence strong and with the brave decision by Andrew to pull Carys out of goals and put in our super –sub with her fearless hands it certainly helped to keep the Red strikers at bay.
Amy-M shows no fear as she throws herself about the goal line using her lightening quick hands, she has razor sharp reflexes along with an ability to bounce off the ground as if she had springs on her feet ( just like Tigger oh ~I feel another nickname coming on! I wonder who can be pooh). We had better watch out as our spies spotted the Llanelli coach saying how impressive Tigger was, we don’t her poached now do we I hope her contract is water tight Andrew!
Rosie after a little wandering finally made it onto the pitch but appeared to still be in wandering mode as she looked for the ball ( it’s behind you!) but that was okay as she didn’t want to mess her hair up anyway! (See Rosie I said I would call you the Wanderer from now on didn’t I)
Jenna landed from Jenna world long enough to say she had a baddie toe so couldn’t possibly play any football today.
It has been noted that several concerned supporters
were alarmed at the new fashion trend being donned by Sheila and Angela last week as they appeared to look
like a pair of terrorists. So in a bid to reassure these concerned folk Sheila has opted for shades of blue and cream in her outfit this week instead of the preferred black but I am afraid she insisted on still carrying a small grenade for decorative purposes only of course.

A village side arrive at Gorsienon short of a goalie so the call goes out to Carys who jumps out of bed and steps into the breach. (It turns out that Chloe and Alex-taller are lost in the wilds of Gangorch Common we hope they are found before next week’s game!) Pontardawe arrive with a full squad of girls who are obviously fed grow- more in their village from birth as they look like Amazons compared to our girls. Gwyn however tells the Colts not to worry as we can Win (did we see the odd finger crossed there now
Gwyn).
Pontardawe score in the first minute of the match after a fluke goal but the Colts put their heads up and get on with the match. Josie gets the ball after a hard tackle passes to Jenny who takes a shot and is unlucky not to put it past the goalie.
Pontardawe decide to shoot the ball from far and wide with the power to knock out grown men but Carys and the defence stand strong and fight hard passing the ball out to the midfield who send Amy-M away to take a shot. The colts do a fine job of holding up Pontardawe with some good passing showing they were not a push over.
Half time and Gwyn gives the girls a team talk whilst the Amazons do a quick hair and make up check before going back on to the pitch. The colts get off to a fine start with some good football from midfield ending up with shots from Amy-M and Jenny who just could not find the back off the net. Pontardawe score again but the Colts refuse to give in and carry on playing their hearts out. Josie and Jenny make a formidable partnership with Amy-M, Carys along with Becci, Katie, Rosie and Alex-tall show that the Colts are looking good especially Emma who was sporting a rather fetching new hairdo.Amy-M and Josie both have free kicks awarded to them after being run over by Pontardawe girls and the rest of the Colts all get a little bit battered and bruised, never mind you played well. Well done to all the Colts. Final score 4-0
Nice to see Denise this week who was enjoying a lovely day out with Gwyn who not content with treating her to one football match decides to make it two with a rugby match as a special bonus treat thrown in, Oh Happy Days!

Squad list: Jenny Josie Amy-M Lorna Emma
Holly Becky Megan Maria Jenna Carys
The weather this week turns out to be sunny and warm and although missing some of our big guns this week the Garden Village girls pull together and produce what might well become the match of the season.
Josie and Amy-M knew they were in with a chance when they spotted someone shorter than themselves on the Cimla team! Tony comes to the rescue when it becomes clear that the ref is a no show, mind you I think he was secretly relieved when he turned up half way through the first half as when you get to a certain age the old legs don’t seem to go were you want them to go!
A cracking start from the whistle, Tigger keeps her feet on the ground this game and with some superb ball skills between Josie, Tigger and Jenny they were attacking the Cimla goal from the off. Village kept up constant pressure resulting in a goal from Jenny. Megan the defender along with Becky and Emma and Maria held strong in defence with Lorna and Holly working hard in midfield. Josie tackled hard and fast winning the ball again and again sending Jenny and Amy-M away with shots from both going wide until another belter from Jenny lands in the back of the net.
Tony took Josie by surprise by getting her to take the goal kicks which she did exceptionally well and with Jenny now on a roll she gets a hat trick before the half time whistle.
With Tony giving the half time talk the girls are sent back on with instructions to Jenna to beam down from Jenna world to help out in
defence.
Cimla work hard but the Village midfield are so full of confidence now that they are determined to keep possession giving Holly and Lorna the chance to take shots at goal. Village unlucky not to score again with Jenny and Amy-M sending the ball wide on several occasions, I am reliably informed that Jenny’s form this week is down to toast with liberal amounts of lemon curd on top, so you know what to have for brekkie next week girls.
Jenna beamed down for the last five minutes of the game with some good defending much to the relief of Carys who found herself under pressure for the first time in the match
The Village girls fought hard against a determined Cimla side they took their time looking up and controlling their passes playing the best football that the supporters club has seen this season, one of the best games yet! Andrew pointed out that Gwyn
was not there so with him in charge he feels he did well although it looked suspiciously like Tony coaching the girls to their fantastic win with his clear instructions of what he wanted the girls to do, such as which girls to mark and were to place themselves when taking corners.
Well done girls.
HAPPY DAYS
Garden Village Colts
vs Llangyfelach
Squad: Atom Josie Amy-M Jenny Olivia Carys Chloe Alex- tall Alex-taller Becci Ellie
On a bright but bitterly cold morning Village are ready to play, from the first whistle they get stuck in with Josie, Amy-M, Alex-taller and Ellie in midfield passing the ball well giving Jenny the chance to get forward and worry the Llangyfelach goalie. Atom, Beci and Alex-tall, do a fine job of keeping the ball away from Carys as Llangyfelach storm back at them, after a few more attacks and against the run of play Llangyfelach score.
Village pull together, Josie tackles hard to win the ball passing to Jenny who sprints forward and just puts the ball wide. Village again put the pressure on with Amy-M just losing out to a very strong Llangyfelach defence. Village play with tremendous determination which sees them spending a considerable amount of time in their opponents half of the pitch. Half time sees the girls 2-0 down but Gwyn lets the girls know how well they are doing, he makes two changes sending on Olivia ( who strolled in half way through the first half after having a nice lie in) and Chloe ( our brave new trainee goalie!). Village again start well with the midfield holding the ball sending Olivia along with Jenny and Amy-M straight into battle with the Llangyfelach defence, after a few near misses Jenny is determined to score and decides to blast the ball from outside the box with such power that it slams into the back of the net leaving the Llangyfelach goalie with no chance of saving it, game on.
Good play from Olivia sends the ball out to Amy-M who picks herself up off the floor yet again and manages to get the ball to Jenny and after a scramble around the goal the ball goes over the line, at this stage the spectators could not tell who scored but after later watching the video evidence Jenny claims the goal!
With the game now being played from one end of the pitch to the other it was only a matter of time before another goal was created, unfortunately this went to Llangyfelach. Village step up the pressure playing with so much passion that Gwyn along with the supporters club are sure that Village are going to equalise before the end of the match.
Gwyn who by now is so vocal we can hear him from the other side of the pitch encourages the girls to give their all in the last five minutes of the game but with every one of the girls battling hard throwing themselves forward they are suddenly caught by a counter attack in the dying minutes which leave Village having to scramble the ball away giving Llangyfelach a corner, after a good cross the ball comes off the chest of a Llangyfelach player right into the back of the net, before Village have a chance to fight back, the final
whistle is blown.
What a great match that saw some terrific football from both teams the final score can only confirm the improvement that the Village girls have made to their game since the start of the season, when they might have been expected to loose by quite a wide margin. Well done to Village who once again did Gwyn and Andrew proud.

Garden Village
vs Landore
Squad: Amy Marie Josie Lorna Atom Carys Jenny Jenna Rosaria Olivia Chloe Alex Holly
.
A bright cold morning finds the Garden Village squad in Pentrehafod with all the girls geared up for a hard game and with Andrew and Gwyn both taking charge today one has to agree it won’t be easy and that’s just picking the team!
Village get off to a great start with Olivia and Amy-M taking control of the midfield and getting the ball up for Jenny to take a shot unfortunately Jenny puts it wide but this gives Village confidence and they continue to battle hard against a formidable side. Landore come back strong forcing Carys to make some great saves although she decided to give her hands a rest and did this by using her feet, showing how good her reactions are.
Landore score but Village keep pushing with Lorna and Jenna doing a fine job of getting Olivia free to take another shot at goal. The supporters are in fine form today with Rosie showing her commitment to the team by turning up to watch whilst carrying a serious injury incurred after being attacked by a ferocious wild cat (in her lounge!).
Village unlucky to be going into half time four goals down but with firm words of encouragement from the dynamic duo (Andrew and Gwyn) they were ready to face the second half with renewed energy. Landore score within the first minute setting Andrew off and with his newly bald head glowing red he starts shouting wildly from the side lines, but this seems to spur the girls on with Josie taking the ball up the line and getting some great passes into Jenny and Amy-M, after a few shots Amy-M finally scores. Holly, Alex and Chloe all do a great job in defence and with Atom kicking the ball with her usual force Village were back on track.
Landore score again but Village show no signs of giving in and bravely battle on.They get a few corners which are taken well by Josie but the Landore keeper manages to keep Jenny and Olivia’s shots from crossing the line, but a determined push in the last five minutes sees some great passing between Josie and Rosaria leading to a superb goal from Rosaria.
Village may not have won the game but there is no doubt that they were victorious in as much as they did not get severely hammered by Landore.
Well done girls! HAPPY DAYS
Garden Village Juniors
vs Dafen
Squad: Andrews’s Valiant Heroes Carys Olivia Rosaria Jenna Holly Josie Megan
A cold damp morning sees the Village Juniors venture down to Dafen were they find a very wet and muddy pitch (back out with the thermal vests and wellies!) not a good start for Coach Andrew who found himself short off players, not to worry though Andrew decides to go poaching again and bags himself a few young Colts! However this is still not enough as Dafen insist on playing nine girls which leaves us with two Dafen players wearing Village shirts to make up the numbers (although a couple of cardboard cut- outs would have done the job just as well!).
Olivia gets off to a flying start and takes on Dafen like a girl possessed after a few early misses she takes the ball right up and blasts the ball into the back of Dafens net.
Village Juniors dominated play but with the two Dafen players in our defence making mud pies and chatting it was not long before Dafen were able to score. Holly, Josie and Rosaria work relentlessly in midfield to keep Dafen at bay and with Carys making some vital saves they battle on. A very frustrated Olivia goes all out and gets a hat trick unfortunately Dafen also score taking it to 4-3 at half time.
After hearing the Dafen coach say they need to stop the number 6 (Olivia) from scoring Andrew thinks that if we give the shirt to someone else we can confuse them long enough for her to score a couple more, nice thought Andrew!
Dafen changed the two girls in our defence for us although they still seemed to forget which team they were playing for, but Andrew decides to step in and splits the girls either side of the pitch and brings his secret weapon into central defence. With this defender known as “Megan the Destroyer” in full battle mode Andrew is in no doubt that she can hold the Village defence single handed.
The Destroyer gets to work, and with the spirit of a great warrior unleashes her strength at the Dafen strikers every time they are foolish enough to get into her territory with fearless determination she takes on the might of Dafen and comes off victorious. With the destroyer in command at the back the midfield are able to get the ball up to Olivia to score again. Well done Megan! (The Destroyer)
Jenna comes out of Jenna world in the second half long enough to start troubling Dafen giving Rosaria and Holly the chance to get a shot or two in as well. Josie and Olivia battle hard and although tired they still manage to threaten the Dafen defence a few times more before the final whistle.
Rosaria was so exhausted that she almost collapsed she was stretchered off and given oxygen before returning to the pitch.
A courageous battle against the odds, with Carys lucky not to be injured as ball kicked out of her hands whilst she was on the floor , Holly caught in the face and most of the Village Juniors walking off battered and bruised they can at least know that they played great football and were really unlucky not to win. Although the supporters were few they were very vocal and believe the real winners of this match were the Garden Village Juniors who all played with such heroic spirit
Final score 6-5

The local derby between Gwyns Colts and Andrews
Juniors took place today at their mutual home ground. The weather was warm and sunny today taking the supporters by surprise sending them hunting for their sunglasses and fold away chairs.
The game was under threat from the minute they got into the changing rooms when a sneaky Andrew who found himself short of players poached two of Gwyns girls from under his nose!
As usual all the girls find it difficult playing each other as it was not so long ago they all played as one team, but as Gwyn pointed out to the Colts if the newly appointed coach of the juniors (Andrew) should win today then we would never hear the end of it and his head would get so big that he would have trouble standing upright so for the sake of Andrews health they had better go out and win the
match!
The game got off to a great start with the juniors wearing very fetching red bibs and a certain Mr Weeks (as he likes to be known when on the pitch) acting as ref this week. Josie and Jenny play well off each other which with the help of Lorna ends in a goal but the juniors push back with Carys throwing out to Alex who gets the ball up for Olivia and Chloe ending with a goal in the back off the net. Amy-M was called upon yet again to be keeper for the Colts (as they have no goalie as yet) and with her Kamikaze approach to being goalie the rest of the Colts feel safe enough to push up the pitch with Elle and Alex enabling Lorna and Josie in midfield to get some good crosses into Jenny which she then converts into goals.
Not to be out done Olivia rallies the juniors and with Chloe 2, Megan and Maria playing well they score again.
Amy-M frustrates poor Olivia by making some spectacular saves with her lightning reactions which she does time and again.
Half time and both teams are playing well; one change is made with Katie now coming on for the Colts. Andrew must have decided that Atom should take out the Colts and with some very strong challenges we see her put Rosie and Becci to name but two on the floor! As well as this she manages to get Jenna out of Jenna world long enough for her to score, although the shock of this put her straight back and she continued the match wandering around aimlessly. Becci joined Holly in defence for the second half and we think she has found her place as she made some great challenges. The game was fairly evenly matched with Amy-M making saves at one end and Carys the other when one side scored the other soon followed but the game was eventually won by the very determined Colts, the goal scorers were, Lorna, Jenny, Chloe and Olivia and not forgetting Jenna. The weather also saw an increase in the number of supporters attending I do hope this keeps up!

NEWS FLASH
We have found the “Gwyn Effect” more difficult to defeat than was first thought, and as we write this, Gwyn`s picture is still overriding photos of many footballers on the web. There are also reports of sudden outbreaks of the phrase “Happy Days” and
We think there is a strong connection between these two phenomenon, although as yet has no definite proof.
Please be assured that everything possible is being done to stop this particularly clever and cunning virus from completing its mission of world dominance and
in future perhaps the girls in the Garden Village Colts could pop a paper bag over Gwyn’s head any time someone mentions taking a photo.
WARNING
An unofficial warning was released today by the W.F.A concerning a rogue computer virus now officially named as the Gwyn Virus. It appears that this virus is set on placing a picture
of Gwyn on all the computers in the area and is thought to be trying to get into the rest of Wales then on to England and possibly the world. This “Gwyn” effect must be stopped before his world domination bid is successful, so keep a close watch for this on your computers if spotted DELETE.
Latest virus update.
Gwyns attempt at Fifa Presendency by replacing pictures of footballers on the web and developing his own personality cult based at Garden Village A.F.C H-Q is thought to be under
control with the intervention of Web Master Wizard, Simon, who has a cunning plan to thwart him (he can not reveal details as Top Secret). Our Web Master Wizard will keep you posted of any further developments, so watch this space!
P.S. Nice try Gwyn!
World domination of football will have to wait as your contract with the Garden Village girls is water tight!
(Just ask Lorna)
This
report is currently suffering what has affectionately been dubbed "The Gwyn
Effect".
we hope to restore the photos of the girls rather than Gwyn soon. Check back to
see how we get on.

The
first outing of the Garden Village Colts with Gwyn as their intrepid leader.
Mumbles
a newly formed team themselves found they were lacking players from the under
13`s but they more than made up for this with all their younger girls. It was
decided that we would all benefit from a match although Gwyn did tell the Colts
not to tackle hard any small players but other than that they were to go out and
WIN!
The game
got off to a good start with Mumbles taking Village Colts by surprise with their
skill and determination on the ball but with Amy Marie playing out today (Carys
on loan for this weeks game) it was not long before Mumbles found themselves
under pressure. Jenny back in the squad was also making her presence felt and
with the quality service of balls coming in from Josie and Lorna in midfield
Village Colts were soon four goals in front. Alex and Rosie help to keep the
midfield tight Mumbles at no time during the game were deterred and kept pushing
forward until they found a way through Village defence to score a cracking goal,
much to the delight of the supporters of both teams!
Village Colts kept the pressure up and with plenty of shots on target
they went into half time feeling very pleased with their performances.

Gwyn’s
half time talk involved praising the girls and telling them no
pressure but he wanted more goals! with this said and one change, bringing
on Elle, they went back onto the pitch with the words Happy Days ringing in
their ears.
Katie
defender extraordinaire was having a great match and new girl Beci was
impressive in her role in defence and with Alex and Rosie all the girls were
putting in 100%. The crossing and
passing between Josie and Jenny proved to much for Mumbles and the goals kept
coming, but we supporters stop counting goals when the tenth goal goes in regardless of who is scoring and just encourage all the girls
on the pitch. Elle, Josie and Katie
all unlucky not to score themselves although Lorna did get one in before the end
off the game.
Mumbles
still battling hard played some lovely football to push forward and they soon
pull another goal back.
In the last ten minutes of the game Carys swaps goal end to give her some
practice on the suggestion of the Mumbles coach whilst some of the younger
Mumbles players have a run out before the end off the match a good game enjoyed
by all players, coaches and supporters.
A big
thank you to Angela who kept this reporter/ photographer warm with a supply of
coffee and chocolate.
Andrew
who obviously could not take any more whooping, clapping and shouts of Happy
Days decided to remind Gwyn that his
team still had more points though! This in no way dampened down Gwyn’s spirit
or the girl’s pleasure in winning.
HAPPY
DAYS
Gwyn
showed his commitment to his girls when he bravely put himself between a 4x4 and
another car to help one of his girls mums free her car. On returning to the car
park they found that her car was trapped on three sides by other vehicles (I bet
parked by men, as obviously no thought for any one else who might want to leave
car park). Not wanting to be outdone Andrew stood behind to watch the
rear during the manoeuvres (although decided not to put his legs on the line due
to the thought of not being able to get to the pub), after a very tense ten
minutes the car was finally free allowing poor Gwyn to go home and put ice packs
on his legs before they turned black and blue.
So girls
if you see Gwyn limping during training remember what a brave man he was whilst
being crushed by a large jeep and he did not cry once although he must have been
in terrible pain!

Official
photographer today was Miss Katie Weekes who did a splendid job despite the
rain, mist and the risk of frost bite to her poor freezing hands.
The
match got under way with Jason as ref and with both teams playing hard to win
the ball, the first break came from Josie in midfield sending Olivia away, her
shot was saved by Amy 2 unfortunately for her it rebounded straight to Jenna’s
feet and before even she had realised what had happened she had kicked it into
the back off the net. It must be said that for a girl not trained as a goalie what
a fantastic game Amy 2 had, she jumped, dived and threw herself at the ball and
any on coming strikers with the speed and bravery one can only be imagined being
matched by a kamikaze pilot. Well done Amy 2.
Atom got
onto the score sheet, although the goals came from her running closer to the
goal there were times during the match we expected her to score straight from
her goal kicks. Steve almost totally confused Jenna by saying she must play like
a yo-yo (meaning going in and out
pulling opposition players with her) she obviously took this to be up and down
and promptly went straight down on her bottom in the mud!

Josie
played some great balls into the box and apart from the odd time only Amy 2s
quick hands stopped Olivia from converting these into goals. Ellie, Josie and
Alex 2 all almost scored but the loudest cheer of the match went to Katie when
she finally scored a goal in the last five minutes of the match, poor Katie
seemed to spend most of the game running on her own towards the goal taking
shots that just would not go into the goals (the supporters club were so pleased
as they thought that the ref might continue play until she did score).
Well done Becci and Alex who played their first game today, a great
start.
Katie taking another shot
Katie taking no chances stays close to Carys
Hard to
say who won the battle as both coaches were as vocally loud and passionate with
their encouragement and coaching to the girls during play as each other,
although I am not sure if I saw Gwyn actually stray onto the pitch whilst
questioning the ref over his decisions but then again we had no trouble hearing
him voice his concerns from the side lines, so I suspect this battle will rage
for a while yet.
The
supporters club were cold, wet, shivering, turning blue and struggling to see
the pitch as the mist rolled in but still happily managing to yell encouragement
from the side lines. (Much to the annoyance of a certain coach!) Andrew was
obviously keen to support all the girls so just decided to confuse Jenna even
more by yelling “Come on Village” leaving her asking but which one?
A thank
you was received today from a satisfied reader who after taking advice over
thermal underwear was pleased to say their bits and pieces were now being kept
nice and warm whilst watching the game.
All the
girls played well it was nice to see them relaxed but still determined and
focused and even though cold wet and extremely muddy they were all really
enjoying themselves, a great afternoon’s football was had by all.
Happy
Days.
