27th June 2005

Well, we now have a steady lineup ready for any 2on2 or 4on4 matches! Since FluX has been away for a while and Pix expressed a concern that he would be taking a break, we now have 6 pFc so an active 4on4 team allowing 2 players to be unavailable. The lineup is now as follows.

[pFc]Tayste
[pFc]sQurGe-OM
[pFc]Pix
[pFc]FluX
[pFc]Muerte
[pFc]Uncle

24th June 2005

Since the last update - Muerte has joined the ranks of pFc.. welcome Muerte (Muerte has been formerly known as Paniek and Biaz). This is very good news because for the last few weeks pFc has been down to 3 active players, FluX seems to have fanished. I spoke to him a couple of weeks ago and he said a reinstall of Windows had caused his DMC to mess up (if I recall correctly..), I suggested he ask on dmc-central for a solution but he hasn't been around. Well, now that we are up to 4 players we have a primary 4on4 team, games will be played!

2nd June 2005

Hey, been away a few days this week so this has been my first chance to update - we have a new addition to pFc, welcome FluX! Unfortunately regarding the review of Aggressor, I haven't done it since other things got in the way (playing DMC hehe). I hope to eventually review the map since it is very good and wish it was in DMC.

25th May 2005

Updated the links section today, deleting old broken links, adding a couple of new links - New GoDz site (which seems to be down atm.. hmm) and Parasites DMC repository. I also ripped down the old big poster I had on the pFc main page, the big blue one with blood splatters which looked too dark on some computers. Yeah, took it down and replaced it with the Cassandra poster.. hehe, shes startin to turn out to be a lil mascot! More news, sQurGe-oM has been gettin busy planning some new pFc potential website designs. Its looking nice, at the moment he is experimenting so we can agree on a design/colour set etc. Finally I have started on a map review of the QW map Aggressor. Its a fast paced medium sized vertical duel map, great fun. That will be on the site by the next update.

24th May 2005

Updated the site today, got rid of the 'Trick stuff' and 'Non trick stuff' titles on the main page and just left a list of the sites contents. However I did add a title for some of the older stuff contained on the site, such as the 'WON demos', 'old QW demos' and 'challenges'. I added an 'Articles' link on the main page which links to the PFC movement guide and other past articles, patched up some general stuff on the site like removing the old WON demo guide which linked to the dead 187 forum. I did some proof reading, correcting mistakes in old sections of the site and I checked around the site replacing the old [PFC] tag with the new [pFc] tag. Finally I added a new article - A guide to playing The Dark Zone (dm6) in a duel.

23rd May 2005

No updates to the site since last time.. there's not much to update right now. The only news I have is that im back from uni next weekend and will be playing again; Pix is perhaps organising some kind of tournament. The in-game [PFC] tag has been changed to [pFc] - a cool tag I recon.

2nd May 2005

Updates: Updated the site in a few areas; Added 2 QuakeWorld duel demos which can be found in the personal duel section. I have designed a new PFC banner which provides the link on the front page (http://Tayste.planetdmc.com) to the PFC website. Check the banner out here. I also updated my member information on the PFC page. The PFC page is actually kinda temp since I think Scourge is gonna take a shot at making a better looking page so we don't look as noobish. =]

13th April 2005

Well, 2 weeks in South Africa, what an amazing experience it was. This last week Scourge-OM and Pix have joined PFC.. Pix joining yesterday and Scourge week or 2 ago. Cool. Pix has coded a new physics engine which works like the QW engine, it was in the early stages when i tried it out but wow, it looks promising and will change DMC when he finishes it!

21st March 2005

Well I have been occupied this weekend with playing DMC and enjoying being home from Uni. I don't have much resourceful stuff to say, however I do need help from whoever may know the answer -

For a long time my QW (i use Fuhquake) hasn't been working online properly. The problem is that my frames are 30. When i play offline it plays perfectly. I thought i had found the answer when i realized my Fuh was out of date (i was using version 0.27, and upgraded to 0.31 ) and then bb told me i had forgotten about the security module. I did all of these things, I have latest Fuhquake, the security module initializes yet going online puts me to 30fps which to me is unplayable. =[

If anyone has the answer i would appreciate it. ;]

Another program i managed to get to work this week was The All Seeing Eye which is a server browser.. one problem i had found though, is I do not know how to use command line parameters when using the browser, so i used the program to find server IP addresses, but then simply connected through Fuh typing in the address. Oh well, im stupid nevermind =]

14th March 2005

I updated the site again, creating in the menu, a link to my reviews of maps etc, and I have also written a comparison of movement between QuakeWorld and DMC. Check these updates out here

I've been checking out custom QW maps again, and in the process have come across some really nice maps. The maps i am new to and recently discovered are

a2
Aggressr
efdm9
filthy
p3a
schloss
Shadows
vdm2
ztndm5
debello.

I decided to take it upon myself to review a2 and aggressr, dispite having only played them for 15 minutes each! a2 and Aggressr

Once i have played some of these other maps, i hope to review ones i find to be good. I particularly look forward to learning Shadows.

Wow, saw a couple of incredible QW demos yesterday, featuring LocKtar. There are 2 demos on dm2 of LocKtar vs Cage, both are examples of near perfect play by LocKtar, and some highly skillful decision making. I used to hate DM2 as a duel map, thought it was boring etc, but LocKtar shows us a glimpse of what it is, to be the ultimate on dm2.

Game 1

Game 2

Last week I also saw a few games that were pretty cool too.

Seese vs KenomaN; Skull - This demo shows some very nice play be Seese on Skull. Especially great is the hilarious RA moment, a classic moment perfectly executed by Seese. Very gg.

Recently seen many Optimizer, Reppie, Gamer, Dag and Fix demos, all very nice.

I uploaded a new trick demo pack, with vanilla dmc settings. Goto the steam tricks section to find it.

2nd March 2005

Today i created this News section of the website, i thought it was a good idea as a continual updating process of information i might come across =].

I also updated the steam trick section, adding a new trick pack (go check it out, its a rocket jump collection), aswell as minor changes around the rest of the site

Since i haven't been able to play DMC recently (only on special occasions, random weekends and holiday breaks) I have been playing around with QW with the intention of becoming a bit more experienced in the art of duelling. Its certainly been a great lesson in the 'play to improve' rather than 'play to expect to win' which most players use the theory of. Use each loss as a valuable lesson, never use excuses. First of all always understand that there is always another better player. You could even argue that we are all newbies, just at different skill and experience levels to each other (when looking at the game from the perspective of a grand scale of perfection). These realizations have mainly come through watching demos of the best QW players, who far surpass the majority of DMC players in terms of skill and experience, however, I do think there are some pure DMC players who are close to this kind of skill, or at least could hit it with a bit more duel practice. But anyway, I came across a map i had never played before last month entitled Blessed to Kill. The map is an example of map making at its best, a brilliant duel map. This map is fast, strategical and always fun. Here is a personal description of the map

Blessed to Kill

Here are some useful links i came across last month -

Frogbot clan arena - a combination of frogbot and kombat teams pro. Excellent, run it with FuhQuake. Unfortunatly has VERY poor map support so...

Frogbot clan arena waypoint file - put this in your quake/fbca101kt folder. It gives bot waypoint support for 252 maps. Its more than likely that any map you wish to play will be supported.
