HISTORY
Approximately 2 million acres
of land was declared by President Ulysses S. Grant on March 1, 1872 as
the first national park not just in the United States, but in the
world! Yellowstone National Park is about the size of Delaware
and Rhode Island put together!

GEOLOGY
Yellowstone National Park's most
famous attraction is "Old Faithful," a geyser. The land that
forms the park was formed by a volcano thousands of years ago, then
covered by great masses of ice called glaciers. The glaciers left
deposits of dirt that store the water used in the geyser's eruptions.
