The Texas State Button Society

Welcome to our official website.
The Texas State Button Society encourages and promotes
the interest in collecting buttons for educational and historical purposes,
for personal enjoyment and to preserve for future generations
all that is beautiful and historical in buttons.

Note from TSBS President, Sadie Jackman

Dear Button Lovers - Time Does Fly - and we've been having fun!

Our Big Events were the National Button Society Convention in Denver in August, where Texas was well represented, and our wonderful Fall Workshop and Meeting in San Angelo. It was well attended and beautifully managed by the talented people there. We thank them all again.

Our conventions and meetings are the perfect place for reunions with button friends and a place to share our enthusiasm. So, it's time to begin your plans for the Spring State Convention that will be hosted by the Fort Worth Club. And boy, have they been innovative! We can all look forward to a new experience with the show at the Doss Heritage and Culture Center in Weatherford, Texas. Complete details on this web site..

The Fort Worth Club has mounted an extensive collection of buttons in the museum there that is drawing lots of interest and appreciation.

March is National Button Month and always a good time to spread the word about our hobby. Try some exhibits at your local library - feature stories in your local newspaper - contributions to your public library for button books. There are many people curious about buttons but not aware of our clubs. Please support your local clubs and invite everyone you meet to join you.

Our new bulletin editor, Ada Nell McComas, will also be working toward spreading the word to entice new members to join us. Each club is solicited to submit activities, goals and plans. Also every one is encouraged to submit articles that are educational and / or fun.

New Years is my personal favorite holiday. I love the illusion of starting over, clean calendars and resolution possibilities. It is a great time to think out personal goals for our collections, to organize our direction and to learn about new categories.

So Happy New Year - See you in March at the Doss Heritage & Cultural Center!

Sadie
