Note from TSBS President, Sadie Jackman

Hello, Button Lovers --
If you missed the Texas State Workshop in San Antonio, you missed a really fun meeting. It was well-attended, beautifully coordinated and a wonderful opportunity to learn and share. The host clubs created a perfect place and a wonderful lunch for us while we bought, sold and traded. We all appreciate the contributions and time donated by each member.

And this same talented group of clubs will host our Spring Show and Convention in Austin. It is very exciting to plan to attend a show in one of my favorite cities. And how perfect is this timing! To be in the capital of our state during this dramatic political season. No matter your party or your candidate, there is a lot of interesting activity around us. It could even inspire us to start some new cards -- with political or patriotic buttons. There are loads of possibilities. Bring yours for "show and tell."

This will also be our first three day show and will be a new experience for all of us in Texas. For a long time, we have been one of the few states that have an open showroom while there is judging. That is no longer tenable for us as it's unfair to the judges and the dealers who take time away from their tables to contribute their time as judges. We want to maintain the high standards of competition and we think this will provide the best solution -- and it gives us more time with our friends! It is also another opportunity to lean the fine art of judging. Please check with Randy Cannon, Judging Chairperson, if you can volunteer any time.

Please support your local clubs and invite everyone you meet to join you. It's a fascinating hobby and sharing is a big part. March is also a perfect time to exhibit our hobby to your community as it's National Button Month. Exhibits in your local library are a perfect example of extending an invitation to research one of the most popular collectibles in the world--Buttons.
