Region 5 Education Service Center Main Office located in Beaumont, Texas and Region 5 ESC Conference Center in Silsbee in conjunction with Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas applied and received a grant from the U.S. Department of Education to help educate and reeducate teachers on how to teach American History to their students. Teachers spend time during their summer vacation with the Sam Houston State University Campus History Department learning various methods on how to teach their students upon their return to the classroom in the fall.
