The housing market in Scotland remains strong with prices increasing by 11.9 percent during the second quarter of 2004 and is now 23.1 percent higher than a year ago. Despite the recent very rapid increases in house prices, Scotland has still got the most affordable housing in the UK. The average price of a house in Scotland in the second quarter of 2004 was estimated at 95,730, compared to the UK average of 157,251.
