Two crumpled cans bordered by the Stars and Stripes of our nations flag dominates the Metal Recycling Exhibit Staff patch for the 2010 National Scout Jamboree. The 8 color CSP Style patch also highlights the international recycling logo wrapped around the crumpled cans to symbolize Scoutings support of the recycling effort through merit badges, emphasis on community projects and the potential funds it can provide each unit. The ghosted "reuse" and "renew" along with the exhibit theme of Recycling encourage all Scouts to be stewards of our common environment.

3 Patch Description

Baden Powell Patch

The figure of Baden Powell is central to this 2 inch by 2 inch patch that was given to every Scout and Scouter who visited the Metal Recycling Exhibit at the 2010 National Scout Jamboree. His signature "smokey bear" hat, the sun on his face and the Scout Neckerchief finish this portrait of the Founder of Scouting. The top portion of an arrow highlights the background while the text "National Scout Jamboree" frames three sides of the patch. "2010" identifies the 100th Anniversary Jamboree and there are 2 ghosted letters on the bottom right to complete this patch. The ghosted "M", "R" and the last E in Jamboree represent Metal Recycling Exhibit.

Tooth of Time Patch

The familiar mountain peak located at Philmont Scout Ranch, the Tooth of Time, is prominently shown in the top left portion of this 2 inch by 2 inch patch. Every Philmont visitor looks up at the 10,000 foot peak and experiences what every pioneer did on their way to Santa Fe. It was given the name "Tooth of Time" because every pioneer knew that when they came upon this familiar peak, they just had a days' journey left to Santa Fe, NM.

The arrowhead located on the Baden Powell patch continues with the shaft of the arrow located at the bottom of this Tooth of Time patch. We also notice a ghosted arrowhead on the bottom right portion of the patch. The Scout symbol is hidden among the green trees on the top right as the word "Metal" begins the phrase "Metal Recycling Exhibit" continued on the next patch.

Recycling Patch

The Recycling Exhibit patch completes the 3 patch series for participants in the Recycling promotion begun at the 2010 National Jamboree. The New Mexico stylized sun with the 100 reminds us of the 100th Anniversary celebration as it peeks over the mountain. The BSA 100th Anniversary logo continues the celebration theme while the shaft of the arrow continues at the bottom and flare's out into the end of the arrow formed by three patches. The international recycling logo is featured on the far right representing the effort to bring more Scouting units into a regular routine of improving our resources while earning much needed funds for future activities.

These are a limited issue patch reserved for the hat worn by the Staff of the Exhibit. The overall design highlights the internationally renowned green arrows, the mountains and Pine Trees representing the great outdoors and the BSA "Conserve, Maintain, Collect" as one of our exhibit themes. C M C, or Conserve, Maintain and Collect, are good environmental habits which serve Scouting in our daily lives.

The 8 color hat patch for the Metal Recycling Exhibit Staff at the 2010 National Scout Jamboree highlights the international recycling logo, the resplendent beauty of the Outdoors reflected in the distant mountain range along with a Pine Tree that reminds our Scouts of our responsibility to nurture the environment while enjoying its magnificent beauty.
