There are several reasons that I like this movie. The first of which is that it's just an awesome storyline. The good verses evil concept has been taken to a more basic level. Taken back to a time of immortal elves, greedy dwarves, evil orcs (goblins), innocent hobbits, wizards, demons, and the noble people that step up and stand against the evil forces that are at work. A time where men fought face to face, hand to hand, and blade to blade. Where it took courage and men and women of mettle to fight for what was right. Some say that J.R.R. Tolkien, the author of the LOTR books-to include the Hobbit, was also using this trilogy to convey some spiritual message. I wouldn't doubt it, seeing as he and C.S. Lewis, author of The Chronicles of Narnia, Screwtape Letters, and Mere Christianity, went to college together at Oxford. However, at this time I haven't done enough research or thinking to have enough meritable insight to even guess what that message would be. The bottom line is this: spiritual message or not, it's still a movie that will make you think about things if you've seen it enough. I've seen it about six times.
