Glen Rose Volksmarch Event
04/24/2004

The walk started at Levels Supermarket which had a nice overhang so we didn't get wet while registering.

We started out at the same time as this couple, but they soon left us behind.

Black and white pets sharing a dry front porch.

Lenore was floating things in the water that was running down the side of the street.

Somerville County Courthouse.

Date on another building on the courthouse square.

A look at the Paluxy River which was running pretty fast and high.

Stopping to chat with some walkers on their way back.

Checkpoint #1 was in Heritage park and was manned by these nice people.

Playground next to the checkpoint.

Log cabin build in 1860 was moved to the park.

On the loop through the park we crossed this stream.

This is where the stream emptied into the Paluxy River.

We went back across the bridge and these walkers were on their way to the park.

View of the Paluxy River from the other side of the bridge.

Checkpoint #2 volunteers.

Small lake with fountains. We didn't get to cross the bridge in the picture.

Big Rocks Park was too muddy for us to get to the rocks and climb on them.

Another view of Big Rocks Park and the Paluxy River..

Lenore enjoyed walking in the puddles.

Nice fountain on the courthouse lawn.

Entrance to Rivercrest where you used to be able to rent cabins along the river. It is now closed and the sign says "Keep Out".
