Canyon Dam Volksmarch

The walk start. John and Dixie were signing up at the same time we were.

A look at the hills surrounding the start.

The walk started out along the edge of a highway.

A nice rock wall provided Lenore support while Carol adjusted her shoe laces.

An interesting yard.

Climbing the hill, we stayed on the road. Lenore took a more adventurous path.

Checkpoint #1 volunteers.

These ladies were also at checkpoint #1.

View of Canyon Lake.

The walk route didn't go over the top of the dam this year.

Field of flowers. Not as many bluebonnets this year.

Heading down to the trail along the Guadalupe River.

This path was closed off because the trail was washing away. They had to move the trail further back from the edge.

The Guadalupe was running pretty fast.

One of the hilly sections.

Checkpoint #2 Volunteer.

Jay caught up with us just after the checkpoint. He walked with us for a while and chatted. He is from San Antonio.

A new castle style home.

Near the finish we passed this area where flooding had washed out a ravine. They have dumped rock in there in an effort to hold the banks.

A small waterfall.
