Friends of North Texas Lacrosse (FRIENDS) is a tax-exempt 501C(3) corporation founded in the state of Texas in June, 2003 to bring the N. Texas lacrosse community together, to raise money for common needs and to strengthen the bonds among lacrosse enthusiasts away fro the field.  FRIENDS focuses on the big picture for lacrosse rather than individual team needs.  From this vantage, it anticipates the continuing need for more trained coaches, officials and dedicated lacrosse playing fields, to enable the sport to continue its explosive growth in N. Texas. 

FRIENDS is run by a seven-member Board of Directors who hold key positions in the administration of youth, high school and officials organizations. Board members serve as long as they retain these positions.

Grants are made to lacrosse teams/programs/organizations that complete the FRIENDS grant application form and submit it to FRIENDS.  Applications are reviewed by and voted on by the Board at least monthly. A majority of Board members must be in favor for the application to be approved.

For 2003 and 2004, priority in granting funds is to recruit and train coaches and officials and to assist new teams with startup expenses.  In future years, grant monies additionally will be used to help subsidize the expenses of post-season and off-season traveling teams representing N. Texas and to provide a limited number of scholarships to lacrosse camps and clinics in N. Texas and beyond.  A longer-term but high priority goal is to secure fields dedicated to lacrosse, for use by all North Texas teams.

Donations to FRIENDS are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.  FRIENDS' primary method of fundraising is an annual fundraising event--in 2003 it was a dinner, dance and silent and live auction--and solicitations of individuals and corporations.
