March 30 - April 6, 2003

Sunday 30.3.03:  Blue lagoon in an unbelievable ice storm, much more fun than nice weather

MOnday 31.3.03:  sleeping in the car in reykjavik, walking around town, icelandic ponies on the way to selfoss

Tuesday 1.4.03: the golden circle -- breathtaking gullfoss, geysir, tectonic plates (and the highlight of the day, running around and relaxing in really great foot-deep moss)

Wednesday 2.4.03: cool waterfall, rock formations, impressive vatnajökull (biggest glacier in europe), and an incredible sunset (which i only caught the beginning of on camera before my battery died)

Thursday 3.4.03: peaceful morning at a huge gorge, stunningly beautiful black-sand beach, skogafoss, strange good-luck stone piles, and hekla, iceland's most active volcano (once thought to be the gateway to hell, although we think reykjavik is more likely)

Friday 4.4.03: western fjords -- the first stop highlighted by lots of bird crap and the second by seals! (the little brown spots in the 7th picture), a volcanic crater, and ending with a no-hands dinner

Saturday 5.4.03: northwestern fjords and very colorful skies, especially around 11 pm -- northern lights!!!!  absolutely incredible
