| Throughout Texas and many other states, Wild Hogs continue to increase in numbers and have become a vast liability to farmers and ranchers, often causing substantial damage to land, crops and cattle. Even a small number of wild hogs can be devastating to property owners. Texas has the largest population of these feral animals at present. Not only do they tear up the land but they also spread disease and can be dangerous.
There is very little you can do to rid yourself of these pests. Ranchers have tried trapping and hunting them with little success. They can't keep up with the increasing population.
To aid you with this problem, our first priority is to build a mutually beneficial relationship with the landowner. We will always adhere to the landowners rules and conditions and do our best to reduce the hog population. All laws and game regulations will be strictly adhered to and all hunters will have a valid hunting license. There will be no drinking, smoking or drug use of any type permitted.
It must be understood that it is impossible to guarantee total removal of the hogs. Anyone telling you otherwise doesn't know wild hogs. There are no guarantees when it comes to wildlife but we use the best possible means to reduce the number of hogs dramatically. Often this will rid the hogs from your property and solve the problem. Generally, when the hogs cover has been exposed, they will leave and go in search of a new home.
To answer some of the most asked questions:
How do we accomplish this? We use well-trained dogs that hunt by scent and not usually more than six dogs total at any given time. Our Cur Dogs track the hogs and bay up. That's when we release Argentine Dogos and American Bulldogs to catch the hog. We use knives, not guns. Our dogs hunt in a well controlled manner. They do not chase deer or livestock and are people friendly. We socialize them early on to make sure of this. If you would like to learn more about the dogs we use, click here for more details.
One question I'm sure that is of concern is the cost. The cost varies, depending on travel expenses. We are trying to help the farmers, ranchers and community while hunting for the enjoyment of watching our dogs work, so the fee's are minimal. We also donate a lot of the meat back to the community to those in need such as the Women's Shelters or anyone in need.
