GARY BIBLE
Square Dance Caller
by: Gary Bible
I have been
married 35 years to my wife Linda. We
have two children Scott and Leslie and Jessica our granddaughter. Both Scott and Leslie have graduated from
Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. Scott will attain his master’s degree in May of 2004. I am happy to say my square dance calling
helped us put Scott and Leslie through college.
I worked 20
years for the Texas Department of Transportation as the Branch Manager of Production
and Data Control. I retired in October
2001. Linda retired from the Texas
Workforce Commission 5 years ago after a 30-year career in the Appeals
Department of that agency.
I have been
square dancing 25 years and calling for 22 years. I presently call for the Promenaders on Mondays, the Swinging
Lakers on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, and teach weekly
Mainstream and Plus lessons for the Waterloo Squares on Thursdays. I also call many weekends for various clubs
all over the State of Texas. At many of
these dances, Linda teaches line dancing.
I am proud to have been a member of Callerlab (the international
association of callers) for 20 years, held almost all offices in the Texas
State Callers’ Association including President, and held all offices of our
local Capitol Area Dance Leaders Association including President. In the past 15 years, I have recorded 9
square dance records, 8 on the Prairie-Mountain-Desert-Ocean label. From that company, I received the following
awards: Hall of Fame Award for
recording with PMDO for over 10 years, Gold Record Award for record sales of
25,000 or more copies and several Top-Selling Records of the Year Awards.
Linda and I have enjoyed having square dancing as part of our lives for the past 25 years. My goal in calling is always to ensure the dancers have a fun evening of dancing.
