Up Close with Casey Simpson (Interviewed on September 1, 2005)
Home: Cerritos, CA
PC: When did you begin your music career?
CS: I started singing at the age of three. I did my first demo with my mom at age three. my mom use to sing the National Anthem all over Southern California, and when I was younger I told her I wanted to do what she was doing. So, she told me when I learned the words to the National Anthem she would try to book me a gig. So I learned the words at 9 years old and, we got a gig at Perris Auto Speedway out at Lake Perris CA. After that I became their yearly singer for 3 years. Then at age ten I started performing mini concerts all around Southern California. That's how it all started. Ever since then I've been performing all over, just still trying to make my dream come true. PC: Who are your main musical influences? CS: You know I get this question a lot and I can never give a straight answer. I grew up listening to all different kinds of music. So I have tons of musical influences. I can't just pick one. From Fleetwood Mac to the Rolling Stones to LeAnn Rimes to Randy Travis to N'sync to Reba and everything in between. I love it all! PC: Where can someone get copy of your CD? CS: Ya'll can go to www.CaseySimpson.com and check out some of the songs. And if ya'll like it you can purchase the Cd on the website as well. PC: If you had to pick a couple of songs you have written or recorded that you are most proud of, what would they be and why? CD: If I had to choose a couple songs on the Cd that I am proud of they would be " Restless Heart" and "Let the Radio Play". "Restless Heart is one of my favorites because it talks about never looking back and watch out cause im heading for my dream. "Let the Radio Play" is one of my favorite songs because it is very dear to my heart. It talks about how a little girl and her father share a very close bond and then he goes off to the war in Iraq and never comes home. It's very sad but every time i perform this song or when someone hears it they tell me they can relate in way. PC: Is there anybody that you would like to perform with or do a duet with? CS: Ever since I was a little girl I've always wanted to do a duet
with Bryan White. Or I would love to do a Duet with Dolly Parton.
Actually PC: What are your fondest career memories so far? CS: Opening up for Willie Nelson and also Travis Tritt. Singing the National Anthem at the Staples Center for the Lakers, Sparks and the Kings. And of course Nashville Star. PC: What was it like when you found out your were nominated to be part of Nashville Star? CS: When I first found out I couldn't believe it. I was so excited that when I got there it just didn't feel real at all. The whole experience was a dream to me. It was Definitely the highlight of my life. PC: Where do you want to be in the next few years with your music career? Any long term goals? CS: I would like to be on tour opening up for people. I'm still following my dreams and I'll never give up. I want to be a star and its not so much about being famous. To me its about performing on stage and having my fans enjoy my music. PC: If not for music what would you be doing as an career? CS: I have no Idea. That's a tough question. I think if I didn't have a career in music I would be a cook. haha I love to cook, Or work with animals I just cant see myself behind a desk 24/7. PC: In your CD player right now, what CD would be found? CS: Right now.... Dierks Bentley |
