Happy Birthday Ivan!
For Ivan's 26th birthday, we celebrated with two days of very different experiences -
Part One - Downtown DisneyFriday night, the ESPN Zone was filled with cheers, grunts and crazy boys, I mean men, with eyes glued to the many TV sets or playing games in the Sports Arena. We had dinner in "The Screening Room" where they were showing the Lakers vs. Hornets game. We were able to snag a table right in front of the huge screen and ate greasy food in a fun-filled environment. After dinner we headed up to the Sports Arena where Ivan showed his stuff in a fishing simulation game. He caught some huge fish there! At Downtown Disney we also walked around the shops and soaked in the Disney atmosphere. We topped off our night with a little mango sorbet from Haagen Dazs.
Part Two - Spa and DinnerSaturday morning began with a pampering trip to Spa Gregorie's in Newport Beach. Ivan received a full hour deep tissue massage in a soothing and calming environment of gentle music. I had an equally relaxing time as I lounged in a candlelit room with an indoor fountain, reading and soaking in the atmosphere. Ivan looked like a happy noodle when he came out of that massage - definitely spoiled! For the remainder of the afternoon, we headed over to Fashion Island to grab lunch at Ivan's favorite burger joint, Blueberry Hill, and also to do some window shopping. The weather was simply beautiful - it felt like summer! For dinner we headed to the historic Hotel Laguna for a wonderful feast at Claes Seafood. The view was breathtaking and we sat at the perfect corner table to watch the sunset. Ivan had the Chilean seabass and I ordered the seafood risotto. For dessert, we just couldn't pass up the bread pudding with blueberry bourbon sauce - simply delicious! It was a wonderful end to a wonderful celebration for a wonderful man!
