Cowboys and Indians

The Yellow Rose Country and Western Club hosted and provided the extras for a Scottish Short film. The film was premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and has been selected for the BBC's highly successful "Tartan Shorts" series and was premiered on BBC2 on the 14th December. Let me know if you'd like a shot of the video. I am making enquiries to see if I can get some stills or an exert onto the web site.

A star studded cast will feature in this year's Tartan Shorts.

Now in its tenth year, Tartan Shorts is a joint initiative between BBC Scotland and Scottish Screen which gives three writer/director/producer teams the opportunity to produce a nine minute film suitable for both cinema exhibition and television broadcast.

The three selected films will be premiered at The Edinburgh International Film Festival before being broadcast on BBC Scotland and then on BBC Network. The films will also be shown at film festivals throughout the world as part of Scottish Screen's festival distribution scheme.

Carole Sheridan, Project Producer at Scottish Screen, is delighted with the success of Tartan Shorts: "The Tartan Shorts scheme has been extremely successful over the last 10 years. These short films are recognised world wide for their excellence and continually win prizes at festivals. Scottish Screen is delighted that this year's films will add yet another distinct layer to this award-winning scheme."

Gaynor Holmes, Executive Producer, BBC Scotland agrees: "We are delighted that this year's team of film-makers have secured a high calibre of talent and we look forward to seeing the results. The three films chosen are particularly diverse and illustrate the breadth and range of film-making talent in Scotland."

Cowboys & Indians

There's no such thing as problems, only opportunities. That's the philosophy of Harry Grimshaw, the hapless manager of a working men's club on the outskirts of Glasgow. Harry's philosophy is put to the test when he arrives for work one evening and finds the club has been double-booked for a group of country and western enthusiasts and an Indian birthday celebration - a situation made even more difficult by the inflexibility of the two bands booked by the respective parties. With guests arriving left, right and centre, will Harry find a way to keep everyone happy or will the night end in disaster? Casting is still to be announced.

Cowboys and Indians is written by John Rooney, directed by Stuart Grieve and produced by Barbara Doyle.
