Houston Arboretum Volksmarch
12/14/2002

Walk registration was outside the headquarters of the Houston Arboretum.

The walk started off with a nice wooded trail.

Shoelaces had to be retied. This area was boggy so the path was raised on planks.

The lake sparkled so prettily.

We had completely circled the lake. Can you spot the walkers coming around the lake behind us.

This tree house looked inviting. I'll bet the view would have been great, but it was closed. It looked like the stairs had started to rot away.

Walking out to an overlook of the creek. There was private homes on the other side.

Long section on raised planks.

Two Houston Happy Hikers coming along behind us.

The trees in Waco don't grow leaves this size!

The tall pines against the beautiful blue sky.

Leaving the Aboretum by the front gates.

Walking along Woodway Drive to get to Memorial Park.

Waiting for the light to change so we can visit the checkpoint before starting the loop in Memorial Park.

The track had plenty of walkers and joggers besides the volksmarchers.

This area just off the track had lots of benches.

Visiting the displays inside the Aboretum after finishing the walk.
