The Shiner Cemetery is very large and includes graves of locals of several ethnic persuasions. There is a large contingent of graves of German Texans with some very elaborate and unusual. there is also a large number of graves of Texas Czechs.
An old wooden cross that will not stand much longer. Note that flowers are still being placed on the grave.
This marker is of cast iron. It is a crucifix with two people on their knees praying.
This arc marker is made of concrete. The front is plain while the back (See next photo) has rocks imbedded in it. Only a little of the concrete grave cover can be seen through the grass.
This photo shows a variety of old markers, including several towering obelisks. Of note is the fact that two of the obelisk markers have "foot stones." Foot stones are most often found in cemeteries that have heavy Southern Folk Cemetery influences.
