This page contains several photos. It may be slow in opening.
The lichgate or "Corpse Gate" of the Assumption Cemetery. The center gates would be opened for the casket while visitors would use one of the gates on the side or other smaller gates located along the outer fence.
The central walkway of the old part of the cemetery. The crucifix is the main focal point of the cemetery. The graves just to the left and slightly forward are the markers of Priests who have served the Parish in the past.
The marker of my great-great Grandfather Hermis/Ermis with the inscription in the Czech language. This marker and the one next to it (Barbara Ermis Jurica) have not been maintained in the traditional manner. Grass grows within the curbing.
The marker of my great-great grandmother Hermis/Ermis located near the Lichgate. The entire plot is covered in concrete with a central curbing filled with gravel and a convenient place to insert flowers. This photo shows several ornate metal grave markers topped with crucifixes. With careful viewing, one can see that one also includes a smaller statue. These markers are still maintained and painted silver. Other metal markers not maintained are dark and/or rusty.
This iron marker is an example of a marker that has not been maintained. In addition to being rusty, it is also bent.
