Tired of the "pop-up ads"?
If so, there is a program that blocks pop-ups from happening. It lets you control if you want to let the ad pop up, by simply holding down the "ctrl" button. If you don't know what a "pop-up ad" is, its that window that opens up when you visit this site. I know it bugs you, cuz it did me!
This program works perfect!

Nvidia.comSANTA CLARA, CA — NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), the worldwide leader in visual processing solutions, today introduced the Cg Language Specification - C for Graphics. Cg is a high level programming language that enables content developers to create cinematic-quality real-time graphics easier and faster. Developed in close collaboration with Microsoft Corporation (Nasdaq: MSFT), Cg gives developers a new level of abstraction, removing the need for them to program directly to the graphics hardware.

Following State Demands XP Service Pack 1 Goes Beta written by [502nd PIR] 2Lt. Martinez on June 13th, 2002
MicrosoftMicrosoft plans to release a long-anticipated test version of an update to Windows XP on Thursday, a company representative said. The update, or Service Pack 1, will ship to about 10,000 testers, according to the representative. As previously reported, it will include features intended to make it easier for consumers to choose third-party software over Microsoft's own products, in compliance with a settlement brokered in Microsoft's 4-year-old antitrust case. The service pack will introduce four options for managing, customizing or removing Internet Explorer, Outlook Express,Windows Media Player,Windows Messenger, Microsoft's version of the Java Virtual Machine, and competing so-called middleware from other companies.

Direct X 9 Goes Beta written by [502nd PIR] 2Lt. Martinez on June 13, 2002
MicrosoftThe next version of DirectX includes features such as a high-level shader language to ease development of special effects for the next generation of graphics hardware.

Microsoft has released the beta of its first major revision of DirectX since DirectX 8 was released in late 2000. Like DX8, which introduced support for the programmable shader effects that were a major feature of Nvidia's GeForce3 and ATI's Radeon 8500 graphics cards, DirectX 9 is expected to open the door to features in next-generation graphics hardware due out later this year. We've already heard in early reports on 3Dlab's P10 and Matrox's Parhelia-512 chips that the big push is toward more programmability and away from fixed-function effects.

One of the key features Microsoft has announced for DirectX 9 is a high-level programming language for graphics effects that should make it much easier for game developers to program and debug new effects. While the shader language in DirectX 8 was based on assembly, which requires explicit instructions for the most mundane tasks, the high-level shader language in DX9 is based on C and will work with Microsoft's Visual Studio programming tools. While this feature won't be used directly by gamers, it should address the common complaint that there aren't enough games that really use the vertex and pixel shader features in current high-end graphics cards.

DirectX 9 includes many other features as well. Some, like displacement map support and tessellation of surfaces, were announced with the upcoming 3Dlabs and Matrox chips. Others, such as version 2.0 specs for vertex and pixel shaders and real-time animation blending, haven't yet been revealed in detail. There are also additions outside of Direct3D, the part of DirectX that many games use for 3D graphics support. Most notably, DirectMusic has seen some improvements for low-latency playback, there's more support for hardware video acceleration, and DirectPlay networking has been enhanced and ported to work on PocketPC 2002 handhelds. The most wide-ranging changes to Direct X traditionally happen with the even-numbered versions, so it's somewhat surprising to see even this many enhancements in DirectX 9.

The final version of DirectX 9 is scheduled for release this fall. Microsoft's first update to Windows XP, called Service Pack 1 (SP1), is also expected late this year, and both updates are expected to be freely downloadable.
