 Information About Stinger

Since the purchase of my jeep in December of 1999 it has undergone many modifications.  When I first purchased the vehicle it no wiring, transmission, or rear bumper.  We bought the jeep as a project and that it was.

The first thing that I did to the jeep was strip both axles down to shells and rebuild them from ground up.  This included a full brake job, new bearings, seals, and every little gasket whether it was leaking or not.  After putting the axles back to gather I moved on to the transmission and transfer case.  Luckily the man I bought it from had the transmission but he had taken it apart with the intension of rebuilding it but never got around to it.  I was handed a case with the gears just kind of stuffed in it.  I ended up rebuilding the transmission myself and while I was there rebuilt the transfer case along with it.

Now that most of the mechanical was done I moved to the electrical system which had to be up to make the engine run.  After sitting in the seat I figured that the stock steering column just wasn't good enough so I found a 1984 Chevy S-10 blazer that became a donor for my column.  While pulling the column I noticed how easy it would be to use the existing fuse box and wiring connections off of the blazer.  My jeep now has a hybrid between a jeep and Chevrolet wiring system.  The dash in the jeep was a piece of stainless steel  that had been cut and rolled like the existing dash.  I bought Stewart Warner gages for my instrument setup and stuck with the stock speedometer.

Once the wiring system was in the engine was cranked over and started.  Now knowing that the engine was good we sent the jeep off to the muffler shop to have a Flowmaster and entire exhaust system put in.  While at the muffler shop the seats where sent to an upholstery shop to get redone in tan marine grade vinyl.

After spending nearly 6 months getting the jeep perfected and to much money I finally drove it out of the shop and down the street.  This was one of my happiest days until the rear end locked up.  Apparently while rebuilding the rear end I had overlooked the condition of the ring and pinion and to my luck they had both torn to pieces after only a mile.  Back into the shop it went and two days later I drove it out once again with much better results.  Although the jeep did run great the disease eventually caught up with me and back in the shop it went for new modifications.
