Above is a picture of me and my new horse, Dixie. Her full name is Sheza Dixie Roze, but we all just call her "Dixie" for short. Shes an awsome horse, very smart, yet still VERY barn sour. Ive been riding her english and bareback lately, yet shes trained mostly for western.

Shes a bay 15.3 - 16 hh mare. Its thought that shes 1/4 quarter horse, 1/4 arabian and 1/2 paint. She's had two foals, both bay and white tobianos. When I first saw her, I loved her. She was under fed and malnourished but she was beautiful to me. I led her around and groomed her. She tied perfectly, but still had some pretty bad ground manners.

Pretty soon though, things changed. I went back to my normal pony, Belle, and then fell in love with another horse named Kharma. Dixie (or Chessie back then) turned out to be a bully to other horses, so I soon hated her. She was really mean to Belle because Belle was the smallest out there. I had mixed feelings. Soon though, Kharma stole my heart. I rode her some, she was a stocky, fast, quarter horse. It was saied that she was used as a cutting horse before I met her.

After a while though, I started liking Dixie again and started riding her. Our bond grew so when I heard she was going to be sold, I was estatic. My parents had been talking about buying me a horse, and I knew she was the one.

The owners offered her for $700, and I know thats pretty cheap for a horse, it wasnt all that cheap to us. I realized that this cow hocked, sway backed, malnourished mare was perfect, yet I couldnt maker her shine in my parents eyes like she did in mine. The answer was no.

So, desperate to sell her, they sent her to Buffalo Texas to a friend of theirs to try and get her sold. I cried a few times, and thought about her 24/7. I just knew she was meant to be my horse.

The man sent them back though, saying that she was to green. Either sell her to glue of you cant sell her at all. I just knew this was wrong, so I talked to my parents yet again.

One day though, my mom called me into the living room and asked me if I'd really like to have Dixie as my first horse. Of course, I eagerly agreed. She nodded and soon the check was passed. She was mine! The price had dropped amazingly to $475 and that was perfect. So, I got my very first horse and I couldnt have had any other.

Sarah.
