The Veterans of Foreign Wars purpose is fraternal, patriotic, historical, and educational: to preserve and strengthen comradeship among its members; to assist worthy comrades; to perpetuate the memory and history of our dead; and to assist their widows and orphans; to maintain true allegiance to the Government of the United States of America, and fidelity to the Constution and laws; to foster true patriotism; to maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom, and to preserve and defend the United States from all her enemies, whomsoever.
Membership to Sherman V F W Post #2772 is open to any veteran who served honorably as a member of the Armed Forces of the United States in a foreign war, insurrection, or expedition, which service has been recognized as campaign-medal service and is awarded a compaign badge by the Goverment of the United States; or served honorably on the Korean peninsula, or in its territorial waters for a period of not less than 30 consecutive days or a total of 60 days, after June 30, 1949.

The membership of the VFW is made up of men and women who have served their country honorably in overseas engagements for which a campaign badge or medal has been authorized by the U. S. Govermant, No others may join. Eilgibility cannot be purchased with money, power or influence. Membeship is a coveted honor.

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED TO SEND THE WORD TO CONGRESS TO STOP CUTTING THE VETERANS ENTITLEMENTS THAT THEY EARNED DEFENDING THIS GREAT COUNTRY. YOUR VOICE DOES COUNT.

The VFW Post #2772 meets the first Thursday of each month at 8:00PM. The Ladies Auxiliary meets the first Thursday of each month at 7:30PM.
Other activities are Bingo on Monday and Wednesday nights. Early bingo is at 6:30PM and main bingo is at 7:30PM. The kitchen is open for meals or a snack from 5:30PM until 8:30PM during Bingo nights. Friday night is Steak night. A great steak with all the trimmings and Free entertainment in the Red Room after dinner. Saturday night is Dance night. The dances start at 8:30PM until 1:00AM and music is by great local bands. The Post is located on the corner of Frisco and Baker Roads. For more information call 903 893-5858
The VFW Post 2772 and Auxiliary, along with other Veterans Organiztions, supports the Sam Rayburn VA Medical Center in Bonham. The members sponsor a party for the Veterans on the second Tuesday of each month. Volunteers bake cakes and furnish Ice Cream for the party. An average of 100 veterans attend each party. Members play bingo and are give canteen books as prizes to the veterans. The Post brings 30 or more veterans to the Post Home the third Friday of each month for a Steak dinner and entertainment in the Red Room. The Post and Auxiliary also supports community programs: Grayson County Health Dept. GEMS program, Home Hospice, Adopted 2 area Schools, 2 Nursing Homes, Salvation Army, Heart Association, Boys and Girls Clubs, Boy and Girl Scouts, Camp Fire, Senior Citizens Center, Cancer Society and Cysic Fibrosis Association to name a few.
