This is a biography of Robert Schwartzman.

well... sorta...

He is a member of a very famous Hollywood family: his uncle is filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, who made The Godfather movies, among others, his cousin is Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage, his mom is Talia Shire, who played Rocky's wife in the Rocky flicks, Robert is the founder of a Los Angeles pop/rock band called Rooney , which is named after the dorky principal in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Robert turns 20 this year, on Christmas Eve. You can catch Robert in The Virgin Suicides, along with Kirsten Dunst and Josh Hartnett. The movie, by the way, was directed by Sofia Coppola, daughter of Francis and, natch, Robert's cousin; and Robert started in the movie business when he was just 10; his mom let him work as a production assistant on her movie, One Night Stand.

As most of you know, he was recently in The Princess Diaries, a film in which he played the main character's [Mia(Anne Hathaway)] love interest, Michael Moscovitz. I must say, he looked mighty cute in his school boy duds...

Robert was born December 24, 1982 (a little less than 4 yrs older than me) in Los Angeles, California. It seems that he has changed his name from Robert Schwartzman to Robert Schwartzman-Cage... in honor of his cousin Nicholas, I suppose... I'm still debating as to whether I should change the title of my page. N-e-wayz...

Well since I'm telling this story, and I'm not Robert, why don't I let Robert tell a little for me...

"When I was 10, my mother let me be a production assistant on her movie One Night Stand. It was so exciting working on a film rather than just sitting there watching everyone else work. I think that's when I got hooked."

"Our mother tried to discourage both of us from being actors, but once we'd made it clear we wanted to give it a try, she was there for us 100 percent."

Robert's brother, Jason Schwartzman, from Rushmore and the upcoming comedy Slackers is only 3 years older than him. Robert says that there is "absolutely no sibling rivalry." "We call it sibling support... We have gone out for the same parts, but we never consider it competition."

"There's no question it's a positive thing in the business to have the family I have. They're all so respected by their peers and by the industry itself."
