Faith Comes From the Word of God

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

The Word of God is sufficient for our every day needs and our every day living. Some people need a little encouragement with their everyday walk with God. Some people get discouraged about their Christian life and sometimes thing that they are not able to live a life that is pleasing to God. Fortunately the Bible tells us how we can be pleasing to God right now.

We were Created to Please God

Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

This passage shows us a glimpse of Heaven. Up in Heaven there are four beast who are singing praises to God. In there praising God, this verse comes out. It says for thy pleasure we are created.

So why was we created? We were created to please God.

So if we were created to please God, we must find out what pleases God. Let us look at the next verse:

Faith Pleases God

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

It has already been shows we were created to please God. Now the task is to find what please God. In this verse it states without faith it is impossible to please God. According to this verse, what pleases God? Faith pleases God.

Now we need to find out what faith is

Faith is Taking God at His Word

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

This verse in Hebrews tells us what faith is. Faith is looking unto Jesus. Boiling it down even more, it can be said like this: Faith is taking God at His Word. The Bible contains many promises. You can take a promise from God’s word and apply it to your life. You do you part and God will do His part.

Here is an illustration. Let us say I give a time to met you at your house. I say I will be there at 6 PM. When I show up right at 6 PM you acknowledge it. The next time I tell you I will be there at 7:30. When 7:30 rolls around, I am there. You start to truth and believe my word. The more times I keep my word, the more you will truth in it.

The Bible is the same way. For example the first promise you may apply from the Bible is John 3:16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. You see that is you believe in God’s only begotten Son, you will never perish but have every lasting life. You start to trust in God’s Word.

Now that we know what faith is, we need to know where to get it? Do we sit here and strain and chant, ‘must have faith, must have faith’? Let us see what the Bible says.

Faith Cometh By the Word of God

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

According to the Bible, faith comes by the Word of God. As it was already mentioned, as we apply God’s promise to our lives and we see God fulfill His promise, we begin to truth God more and more. All the is needed for you to live a life pleasing to God right now is to take a promise from God’s word and you do your part by faith, believing God will do His part. When God comes through, you begin to get more faith. The next day you can add another promise and be pleasing to God.

Remember: We were created to please God.

What pleases God? Faith pleases God.

What is faith? Faith is taking God at His word.

Where do we get faith? We get faith from God’s word.

Everyone can be pleasing to God right now. All they must do is apply a promise from God’s word and watch God come through. This is pleasing to God.
