C. G. Jung

"The artist is not a person endowed with free will who seeks his own ends, but one who allows art to realize its purposes through him. As a human being he may have moods and a will and personal aims, but as an artist he is "man" in a higher sense - he is "collective man," a vehicle and molder of the unconscious psychic life of mankind." — Carl Gustav Jung

Carl Jung was at one time Sigmund Freud's heir-apparant, but after a falling out with his old mentor, Jung delved into the subconscious in ways that Freud had never conceived. Jung has been passed up by psychology, but philosophy and the arts. His ideas have shaped the New Age movement and his archetype theories are taught to English students. His ties to Nazi-related organizations clouded his reputation, but his ideas still circulate both in academia and daily life. This site is meant to inform readers about the life and ideas of Carl Gustav Jung.
