Rails and Trim

Since the boat was sitting upside down on sawhorses and the side trim pieces could be installed with it that way, I decided to start by installing them first. As you can see, I had to build some extensions for my Jorgensen wood clamps so that I could reach far enough to hold them down while I installed them. It helped a great deal to set all the gunwale rails and trim pieces out in the hot Texas sun for a few hours to soften them up before we started work.

I had three helpers on this part of the job. The first picture is my friend Mike who sold me the boat. The second pic is of the other two helpers with which I wouldn't have ever gotten through the job!

But we finally got done and it looked pretty good.

Not a bad days' work. The real fun started the next day!
