A four-piston brake caliper. The patterns are made from Oak.

 

Mounted on the matchplate with gate and sprue / riser.

 

A test pour to see if the casting would feed correctly. I was afraid that since the bore recesses were not yet added the large sections would cause a shrinkage problem. It filled great with no noticeable shrinkage. Notice the top of the riser though. The thing was really thirsty. I think I will keep this same feed configuration which was the first attempt. The pattern will be revised to have the rough piston bores and brake pad recesses cast in which should help reduce any shrinkage concern. 

 

Here is the casting. It's still not completely machined. I'm actually going to make some additional changes then recast it. Hopefully with better finish the second time.
