My dad spent 23 1/2 years in the United States Navy as an aviation ordinanceman, traveling the 7 seas. When other kids talked about their dads being fireman or doctors or lawyers, I always got a kick out of saying "My daddy helps the planes blow stuff up" His job was that of a sailor and his office was the sea. As I got older I started to notice what a big part my mom played in the journey that was my dad's Navy career. She always took us to the base to do fun stuff.(Oh yeah PS dont ever get shots from the base hospital yyeeeeeoooouch.) My fondest memories were always going to the pier to meet dad's ship as it came into harbor. I don't miss moving so much and I dont miss being without my dad six to eight months out of the year, I do miss watching Santa Claus deliver toys to us from the cockpit of a F-14. I guess bottom line is that even though I never joined the military, I still used the lessons my dad taught me to be a better person. I am 28 years old and I have a beautiful wife and a lovely little girl. Mom and Dad live in Whitesboro and love being in the country. Dad still works as hard as he ever did, and mom still stands right there with him, just as she always did.
