Elkhart House Project - July 14, 2001 Framing started this weekend. We actually started July 12 late in the afternoon on Thursday Almost all the framing is completed. Just one more dormer and the outside gabels.
The pile of lumber that would soon be gone.
Framing complete...ready for the floor joist.
The roof up and one dormer. Each rafter is an 18 foot 2x6. The roof pitch is a 10/12. This puts the ridge about 20 foot off the slab.
On Sunday the porch was added. 16 foot 2x6 rafters were used. They are nailed just under the dormer windows and run out to a 3/12 pitch roof. The overhang is 2 feet from the porch.
Back from the road. We also installed the windows.
A neat view from the side showing the profile of the upstairs rooms. The second floor ceiling is 7.5 feet and the pony walls on the outside are about 4 feet high. This gives the rooms a dept of about 14.5 feet. Very big rooms upstairs.
The crew on one of our few water breaks. Johnny (left), my Dad and Me. Blake is standing in the door of the trailer.
