Elkhart House Project - May 26, 2004 Finally the pour!! I found out my brother in law had slipped up to Elkhart to work on his other house. Not wanting to do this my myself I slipped up here on a Wednesday to borrow his help. Also lucky there was an open time for some concrete. The truck was 30 minutes late but arrived at 10:30am. Took 20-25 minutes tops to pour, bug it, bull float it. We were done before the truck had washed out. Three passes with the trowel machine and I've got a very smooth surface. Everything else went very well.

Truck just arrived, Johnny helping with the chute. Dan on the left was also there to help.. |
Didn't take very long to get this far, 25 minutes tops. It'll sit for a couple hours before I can start to trowel. |

When it's your house your guaranteed two things...1) you get to write the check and 2) you get the less than glamorous jobs. |
After the first trowel, still maybe a little wet. The other guys are long gone. I'm on my own now. |
Working on the second trowel. Always real windy on the hill plus the sun started coming out. I had to wet it just a bit. |
Third trowel and finished. Almost a glass like finish. I'm very pleased. This is about 4 hours after the pour was completed. |
The old trowel machine lives for another slab. To bad the blades are welded. I can see how adjusting them could make for an even better finish. |

Not to many tools needed for concrete work. Where's my rubber boots? |
