Elkhart House Project - April 28, 2002 Getting really close. I got the main part of the floor finished. I only have to grout the pantry/utility room. This'll really help with the concrete dust. I even tiled under the stairs. I also laid the vinyl floor in the upstairs bath. I just have to tile the counter top and set the sink. I actually showered in the shower for the first time. Mischelle's sister and husband came up and we had some play time. I also went fishing Friday afternoon. Plenty of pictures this time. A look at the complete inside of the house.

The kitchen. A little touch-up paint near the fridge and finish the backsplash to the far right. Behind Mischelle you can see the backsplash. It matches the countertop. I also need to touchup and pain some of the crown |
The Dining room. Pretty much complete. |
Looking across to the front door. We recently decided to close up the stairs. I got the one wall finished and it seeds to be painted. I still have to frame in and install the door. Hey what's a country place without a Mercury boat motor in the closet!! |
A good view of the den. |
Another view. The couch is a sleeper but we're going to get another one from Johnny. The two chairs are from Johnny, they're recliners. |
Another angle. You can also see into the master bedroom to the left. I still have to finish the stair hand rail. |
A slightly different angle looking into the dining. |
The downstairs bath. |
Master bedroom. I need to move that heater. It's been there for a month now. |
The pantry/utility room. This is the last room I had to tile. Just need to grout it. The washer/dryer will go on the left. Staple foods will replace most of my tools on the shelves. The shelves are 2x12 and there 8 feet long. Plenty of storage. The water heater is electric and is up on a stand for more storage underneath. |
Morgan's room. |
Morgan has 2 trundle beds. This one came from cousin Ashley. |
Another look at Morgan's room. The cedar chest is from Aunt Victoria. I still need to nail the trim and paint her dormer cabinet. |
Blake's room. This was his Great Grandparents bed. Both the kids picked out their own colors. |
Blake's dormer cabinet has 3 drawers and still needs to be painted. The desk came from his Aunt Judy and Uncle Matt. |
Another looke at Blake's room. |
The upstairs bath/shower. It's the frog room. I got the floor in on Friday. Pretty easy laying vinyl. |
The frog shower. I still to put some tile above the shower. The pictures are small, the bathroom is only 8x8. |
Here is the vinyl floor. Actually in this area I'm going to build a built in cabinet for towels and sheets. |
The upstairs landing. Something will go here. Maybe a sofa or daybed thingy. |
We went down to the Trinity River bottom just below the house. The river is up about 15 feet or so. The ledge behind the gang is a 10' drop off. The river makes a bend right there. |
Here's the river at the camp. You can see the boat ramp the guys cut into it. At the bottom on the tree in the water (on the left) is where the normal level is. With all the rain in Dallas it's way up. It takes about 3 days for the water to reach Elkhart. The river actually dropped about 2 feet overnight. |
Here is the deer camp that' on the bank. The river is just to the left. They say the water has gotten about half way up the stairs in a massive flood. |
