Shell Stitch Bonnet{Lyn's Designs}
Materials:
1-1/2 oz. Baby Sport Pompadour in "Summer Sunset".
Size "F" Hook
Satin Ribbon

ch 44, sc in 2nd ch from hook, and in ea ch across.

Row 1: ch 3, 2 dc in same sp (1/2 shell made), * sk 2 sts, sc 
in next, sk 2 sts, 5 dc in next st (shell made),  repeat from 
* across. ending with 1/2 shell in last st.

Row 2: ch 1, sc in same st,  * 5 dc (shell) in next sc, 1 sc 
in center of next shell,  repeat * across. ending with 1 sc 
in last st.

Rows 3-8:  repeat rows 1 & 2 alternating. end off.

Back Flap:  attach yarn in center of 3rd shell in the middle 
of the cap.

Row 1: ch 1, sc in same sp.  5 dc in next sc, 1 sc in center 
of next shell, ch 3, turn.

Row 2: 2 dc in same sp, 1 sc in next shell, 5 dc in next sc, 1 
sc in next shell, end with 3 dc in beginning ch.

Rows 3-9: repeat row 2.   end off.   weave in ends.  fold flap 
down and line up side seams and whip stitch each seam. weave in
ends.

Beading Row:   attach yarn in corner at bottom of bonnet, working 
around the bottom, work 1 hdc in next st, ch 1, sk 1 st, 1 hdc in 
next st,  around. then work across the front of bonnet using sc.   
end off.

thread  satin ribbon thru this row and tie in bow.
