Roses Bonnet

(Newborn Size: approx . 13-14" head)

Materials: 1 oz. White pompadour baby sport yarn Red pompadour sport yarn (small amount) Green pompadour sport yarn (small amount) approx. 15-18" of white satin ribbon F hook ............................... with white ch 4. sl st to form a ring. Rnd 1: ch 3, 14 dc into the ring. join. Rnd 2: ch 3, 1 dc in same sp, * 2 dc in each st around. join. Rnd 3: ch 3, 1 dc same sp, * 1 dc next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, repeat * around. join. Rnd 4: ch 3, 1 dc same sp, * 1 dc next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st, repeat * around. join. Row 5: ch 3, 1 dc in each of next 41 sts. turn. Rows 6-10: ch 3, 1 dc in each st across. turn. Row 11: ch 3, 1 front post dc in each st across. fold back. end off white. Row 12: attach green color..you will now be working on front of piece after you have folded back the last row (so this will be in opposite direction of the previous rows) ..this is the 'leaf' row. ch 3, * skip 2 sts, V-st in next st, repeat * across, end with 1 dc in very last st. end off green. Row 13: attach Red, in first st on right side, turn ... ch 3, * cluster st in center of V-st, ch 2, repeat * across, ending with 1 dc in very last st. end off red. ~Cluster Stitch~ (this has 3 sts to a cluster) * yo, insert into st, yo, pull up loop, yo, pull thru 2 loops, = repeat this 2 more times to make cluster, yo, and pull thru all loops on hook. Row 14: attach white, ch 2, turn. put 3 hdc in each ch-2 sp between the clusters....across. Row 15: ch 3, turn. skip first st, 1 sc in next st, * ch 3, sk 2 sts, 1 sc in next st, repeat from * across. end off. weave in ends. for Ribbon Row; working across bottom of bonnet, thru both thicknesses of the folded brim, holding bonnet upside down facing you.. attach white yarn in left corner, ch 3, 1 dc in next st, * sk 1 st, 1 dc in next 2 sts, repeat * across. ch 2, turn, 1 hdc in each st across. end off. weave in the ribbon on the 1st ribbon row, weave under 2 dc, and then over 2 dc alternating across. tie in bow at front. ~Lyn's Designs~ (\0/) 2003
