Rose Cap{Lyn's Designs}
(fits 17" head)
Materials:
WW  4 ply yarn;
2 oz. red.
1/2 oz. white.
small amount green
G hook
yarn needle
 
with Red, Ch 4, sl st into beginning stitch to form a ring.
Row 1: ch 3, 13 dc into the ring. sl st to join.
Row 2: ch 3, 2 dc in each st around.  sl st to join.
Row 3: ch 3, 1 dc in each st around.  sl st to join.
Row 4: ch 3, 1 dc in same sp, * 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc in
next st, repeat from * around.  sl st to join.
Row 5: repeat row 4.
Row 6: ch 2, 1 hdc in each st around, sl st to join.
Rows 7-14:   ch 2, 1 hdc in each st around, sl st to join.
Row 15: ch 3. 1 dc in each st around, sl st to join.  end off red.
Row 16: attach white, ch 3,  1 front post dc in each st around. sl st 
to join.
Rows 17: turn, working in other direction,  ch 3, * 1 dc in next st, 
1 front post dc in next, repeat from * around. sl st to join.
Rows 18-20: working in same direction as row 17... repeat row 17.
end off.   fold up brim.
 
Rose & Leaf Appliqué:
 
For Rose:   with red, ch 14 loosely, sc in 2nd ch from hook, * ch 3,
sk next st, sc in next st, repeat from * across.   end off.  leaving a
4-6" tail for sewing later.

with beginning sc, roll to form a flower, with yarn and needle, sew
thru the base chain to secure in place.
 
for Leaf: with green, ch 9 loosely, working in back ridge of chs , sc
in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next 5 chs, and hdc in last 
ch.   finish off. leaving 6" tail for sewing later.

Arrange the leaf as desired on brim, using yarn needle, and tail, tack 
down to secure.  repeat same for rose on one edge of the leaf.
( may use 2 leaves if desired).
