Braided Brim Cap{Lyn's Designs}{fits adult head approx. 22"-23"}
Materials:
H hook
4 ply yarn - 2 oz color A (black)
                   &188; oz. color B (pink)
                   &188; oz. color C (green) 

Cap:
ch 4, sl st to form ring.
 
Rnd 1:  ch 3, 17 dc into the ring. join.
Rnd 2:  ch 3, 2 dc in each st around. join.
Rnd 3:  ch 3, 1 dc same sp, * 1 dc in ea of next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, 
repeat from * around. join.
Rnd 4:  ch 3, 1 dc same sp, * 1 dc in ea of next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st. 
repeat from * around. join.

Rnd 5-12:  ch 3, 1 dc in ea st around. join.

Brim :
Rnd 13-16: ch 2, 1 hdc in each st around. join.
Rnd 17: ch 2,  * 1 hdc in next 4 sts,  decrease over next 2 sts, ...repeat 
from * around. join.
 
Edging:
Rnd 18:  ch 1, * sc in next st, ch 1, ... repeat from * around. join. this 
makes a very slight scalloped ruffle along the edge of cap.
 
Braided trim:
make 3 strips in 3 different colors, such as A, B and C.
for strip: ch 80, 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each across. end off. 
 
braid all 3 strips together smoothly and evenly, matching up the strips on 
both ends, sew them together.
then sew the brim to the cap between rnd 13-16.   end off.
