I have a question for Sega.

June 19,2001

A few months ago Sega shocked the gaming industry and the gamong world by stating they would make games for other systems including the Nintendo Gamecube. Then Sega announced that they were lowering the price of the DC to $99 and would stop prodution in March. My first thought was how cool of Sega to lower the price of the DC and make games for other systems. After losing plenty of money via the Dreamcast they were about to throw in the towel and produce only games for various systems. This got me thinking if they are making games for other systems, THEN WHY NOT MAKE GAMES FOR THE FREAKIN DREAMCAST?

I know your your first thought was "Because they lost a lot of money", which is very true. But seeing how they are stopping production of the Dreamcast and abandoning the console wars, maybe they should make some games for their own freakin system. Sega stated they stopped making consoles because they lose money for everyone sold. So now that production has stopped, so has you financial black hole of money. No more DC's made so no more money lost. This brings me to my next point.

Sega stated that they are making games for other consoles because they make their money of software A.K.A games. I am not saying don't make games for other systems, but why not make some more for a system that has your company name plastered on it, and is more familiar territory. Maybe only 10-15 games a year. You will make money and still have people playing the system you built. It is equally powerful as the PS2 so why not have the system stick around the same amount of time as the PS2? Don't produce and more units, but only games. You are not losing any money, unless the game absolutley tanks, and you are extending the life of the system.

Oh well. LIke anyone will listen to me anyway. It is a good Idea, but it probably won't happen. The DC has about 6 months to live and everyone that want's to experience the system alive better do it quick because the games stop rolling in '02.
