Stepping Out Into The Light

Stepping Out Into The Light
By: Tenna Perry

What a beautiful sight
Another day, dawning bright
A child’s voice full of might
Caused her rapist to loose his fight

As she starts her trip from hell
He will begin his in a cell
His body the others will sell
They don’t like his kind I hear tell

If justice is to be found
They will hold and keep him bound
Badgering, buggering they will hound
The guards will swear they heard no sound

Let him know the fear
And thoughts of losing all that is dear
But with smells of sweat not beer
Blood from tearing flesh no one can hear

In the darkness of the night
He’ll be the one waking up in fright
From stealthy sounds out of sight
While she walks into the light

Her future may hold
Hurdles and troubles untold
She will learn there are no quick fixes sold
But she’ll go forth her heart is bold

Mistakes will be made
Some of the memories will fade
This one’s foundation is laid
In colors blackish green like jade

Built upon layers of pain
And more blood than spilt by Cain
The resolve will remain
Her children this filth shall not stain
