This is how to make a simple banner, once you get it down, you can add more images and text to it. At the bottom of this tutorial page i have some blank banners for you to choose from.

This is the banner we will be making

First you will want to save Magick Studio to your favorite files click here.

These are the images we will be using to make the banner above.

STEP 1

The first thing you do at Magick Studio is type in the url of your banner blank

Gravity: From the drop down menu choose "WEST"

Location: type in "+5+0"
Click on "Composite".

This is what we have so far:

STEP 2

Now we want to add the first line of text to our banner..TEXAS

Click on "Annotate" at the top of the page. On this page there are boxes to be filled out.

Text: Type in the first line of text in the big white box.

Gravity & Location~~let me explain the 2 the best I can...

Gravity: is where on the banner your text or image will be located. For text I always use Northwest or Southwest, because I seem to have better control of where I want the text to be placed.

Location: this is the numbers system, and its pretty simple once you get it all down. For the first line i used "+150+35".

Lets take the first number "+150", the higher the number, the more east the text will go.

The second number "+35", the higher the number, the more south it will go.

Fill color: this is the text color. You can click on color and it will show you a list of colors.

Point size: I chose "35", the number depends on the size of your text. The bigger the number, the larger the text will be.

Font: I chose "Saloon". You can click on the word "font" and it will show you a list of all the fonts they have.

Now click on "Annotate" right below the gravity & location section. Here is what we have so far.

Now to add the second line of text...The Lone Star State
Click on "Annotate" again. Change the text to The Lone Star State. Change the Gravity to "Southwest". Change the location to "+90+10" and I changed to font to "MarketBoldPlain".Now click on the "Annotate". Here is what we have so far.

STEP 3

Decorating your banner....Click on "Decorate". On this page you will see boxes to fill out.

Geometry: I use "8x8+3+3". The higher the numbers the thicker the border or frame will be.

Color: this is the color of your border, I chose "white".

I chose frame. Now click on "decorate". Here is what we have....

STEP 4

Click on "Output". On this page is where you will be gettin ready to upload your banner to your homepage account.

You can choose either gif or jpg from the file type box, then click on "output" right below.

Now we are on the page where you can see the finished banner again. Scroll down to the Upload attributes there you will see boxes to fill out. Here is an example of uploading to Angelfire.

Ftp Server: ftp.angelfire.com
Account Name: tx5/maryjane

(you can leave the directory option blank if you do not have one set up)
