David Foley was born on January 4, 1963 in Toronto, Canada. He grew up as an only child of his mother, Mary, and father, Michael. Dave dropped out of an alternative high school at age 17 to pursue his dream of doing comedy. He began attending classes with the Second City Comedy Troupe in Toronto, where he met and became close friends with Kevin McDonald. While working together as ushers at a local art house movie theater, the two began performing as a part of the original Kids In the Hall. On December 31, 1991 he married Tabitha Southey whom he met at a bar when he was 20 and she was 17. He has said that their relationship began when, right after being introduced to each other, they began arguing over whether the lead vocalist of the group The Psychedelic Furs was a good singer. They have two children, Edmund (called Ned), born in 1991, and Basil Patrick, born in 1995. Unfortunately, however, the couple recently divorced.
