Heroes

So, I was watching Walker Texas Ranger. Not a daily thing, more of a flipping through the channels and see a scene that catches your eye. It was the one where Walker's wife is trapped inside of a burning building that the owner of it hired somebody to destroy, they went wrong and it's still standing. The firefighters tell Walker to go to the ambulance cause he's hurt. He doesn't listen. When they're not looking he goes in there after a search has already gone in. Show's a big deal of trust, eh? He and his partner (I forgot his name) save his wife. A little while later, he finds that there's a kid, Jj, still inside, down in the basement, another search party goes in when the ceiling falls down. They make it out and nobody is aloud back inside. Once again Walker and his partner hear that Jj is missing and make their way back inside the building when nobody's paying attention. On their way to the basement they find a bomb that was suppose to destroy the building and take a good five minutes to investigate it. Keep in mind a fire behind them and kid they're looking for. A barking dog gets their attention and they follow the sound, leading them to the kid. Jj is stuck under a beam that the two of them can't lift, the radio doesn't have a signal so his partner goes out of the building to get more help. I promise I'm getting somewhere with this... They stand outside and talk a little while about the bomb he found and they form a team to go back inside the building. Almost there, walking down the stairs the ceiling collapses again. A minute or two later they wake up after a long anticipating answer on the radio ends with them making it out of the building. Walker and Jj are still stranded in the basement. Now that there was an explosion Jj can make it out from under the beam with the help of Walker. But, now they're stuck with no way out. Walker takes Jj into his arms and walks back and forth without much of an expression. Everybody outside is staring at the building when magically here comes Walker who has escaped with Jj in his arms through fire and not an inch of him is hurt.

How is it that a person that's not suppose to near the scene, disobeys orders, enters a building twice and never gets caught, yet gets the admiration of the effected, is not harmed and makes it out "hero"?

Tis the magic of TV.

While if a person held in this position, a firefighter, police officer, etc. acted with the amount of attitude and actions as he does, the outcome would by no means be the same.

There are other sorts of heroes, not only firefighters and police officers; found in almost any profession are those who help others in a time of difficulty. Those who care about others, those who tell others of God in times that it can mean death. Some that are big brothers and sisters without any.

On the lighter side, I was thinking about some stuff at school after I'd finished some work and came up with this. Have you ever wondered why people take so much time to make an incredible decorated letter to their friend who wont keep it once they've read it. Perhaps that's similar to others, those that dedicate their lives to helping others and in return they don't always get thanked. Maybe there is a resemblence, maybe not.

Nevertheless, Thanks for all you do.

God Bless,
Whitney
