CHAPTER 11
Delaney had warned her about Las Vegas being a sensory overload kind of place. AJ preferred to call it a place where possibilities and opportunity met. Jordan never thought Vegas would have a big impact on her life. Boy she was wrong!
Since Delaney shared the story of Jordan, vodka, and the hockey player, AJ had been on a mission. It didn’t have an official name like, “Get Jordan Drunk”, but the purpose was still to get Jordan drunk. Jordan had successfully avoided the tactics AJ attempted. Unfortunately, she got cocky in Denver and it was her undoing. The last two times they had bowled Jordan beat AJ. So come Denver she was feeling pretty confident in her bowling skills and really didn't think through the implications of betting with AJ.
An AJ who has lost twice to someone is a dangerous AJ, but an AJ who bets on a game with the person he’s lost to twice, is a lethal AJ. The bet was simple enough. If Jordan won, a T-shirt would be made that said, “Jordan kicks My Ass when we bowl” and AJ would have to wear it once a week for the remainder of the tour and every 5th show. If AJ won, she was drinking and gambling with him in Las Vegas, the liquor and game being of his choice. AJ won.
Nick attempted to gamble, but the fans were having none of it. If he was in the open then he was fair game. He played until it got to be too much. Heading upstairs he ran into AJ.
“Sup.”
“Hey Bone. Nothings up. I can’t even lose money in peace.”
“I’ll take your money. Hand it over buddy.”
“AJ,” chuckled Nick. “I thought you'd be down at the tables.”
“Nah. I’ve got a very important game tonight.”
“What game?”
“I’m collecting the pay off of my bet with Jordan.”
“So you guys are going to be drinking?”
“Yep and playing strip poker.”
“What,” exclaimed Nick as he followed AJ into his suite.
“You heard me. She lost in Denver. My pay off is her drinking and gambling with me. I choose the liquor and the game. Vodka is the liquor and strip poker is the game.”
“Can I play?”
“Sure.”
A knock announced Jordan’s arrival.
“Come in. Come in,” directed AJ.
Jordan stepped inside and said, “Hi Nick. AJ where are we going?”
“You’re here baby.”
“Explain,” said Jordan with a sinking feeling.
“Nicky’s already been chased out of the casino by our fans. Going down there isn’t an option. So we stay here to drink and play.”
Jordan was feeling better about the evening. “Good. Nick’s staying?”
“I’m staying.”
“And he’s playing,” finished AJ.
“What are we drinking?”
“Vodka,” he answered, displaying a new fifth of Vodka.
“Thank you. I hate Jack. So what are we playing? Five card draw?”
“We are playing poker, but it's time for the first drink of the evening.”
While talking, AJ poured three shots. The three friends tossed back the shots. Nick coughed. AJ and Jordan stared at each other and didn’t react to the fire hitting their stomachs.
“Who deals first? Are there any wild cards,” asked Jordan moving to the table set up for the game.
The other two followed, AJ bringing the vodka.
“I’m dealing and first hand nothing’s wild.”
“Fair enough. Where are the chips?”
“There are none.”
“How are we going to bet,” she asked and Nick started to snicker. “What are we betting?”
“It’s only loser who pays up.”
“What are you not telling me?”
“The loser has to remove a piece of clothing.”
“Oh No! Alexander James I am not playing strip poker with you!”
“Yes you are,” AJ replied with grin. “I know you never welch on a bet…never!”
“And you know this how?”
“Delaney.”
“Shit! She is so dead when I get back home.”
“So sit down. I’m dealing.”
“Fine,” she said as she sat down.
“Final rule, a shot done between each hand.”
Nick poured the drinks, “Oh one more rule, jewelry don’t count.”
“Nope, he said final rule.”
“Alright think of it as a clarification of the rules. Good thinking Nicky.”
“Thank you AJ.”
So it began. At some point Howie stopped by to see what they were doing. Once inside he stayed for awhile.
Kevin had been at loose ends all evening. After dinner, he had tried watching a movie. Finally, he gave up and went to see what everyone was doing. As he walked down the hall on AJ's floor, he heard a door open and lots of laughter.
"What’s going on in there," asked Kevin as Howie stepped out into the hallway.
"You have to see to believe. Later man," replied Howie as he beat a hasty retreat.
Kevin stepped into AJ's room. Howie was right, he wouldn't have believed it without seeing it. Gathered around the small table in the room, in various stages of undress were AJ, Nick, and Jordan. She had her back to the door and didn't see him.
"Deal AJ. I want to get this over with."
"I'm dealin'."
"Guys can I get a towel or something to cover up with," asked Nick.
"No," replied the other two.
"What’s goin’ on," asked Kevin and watch Jordan instantly tense up.
"Strip poker and Nick lost," replied AJ.
"So I see," said Kevin, trying not to laugh as Nick tried to cover himself.
"Game over," declared Jordan.
"Don't stop on my account."
"Jordan you ain't beat me yet," stated AJ as he dealt the next hand. "I intend to get you naked."
"Not happenin' Bone."
"Fine. Drink," ordered AJ, tossing back another shot of vodka.
Jordan quickly downed her shot. Kevin watched her. She had lost her shoes, shocks, and pants, but her shirt remained. Her hair was down and tousled. She tried to focus on her cards. He wondered how many shots she had done. She was the most dressed of the three so obviously she had won most of the hands. Nick was butt naked and very uncomfortable. AJ was down to his jeans. They played out the hand.
"Fuck me," muttered AJ as he lost the hand.
"No. Just drop the pants Bone."
"Fine. Get ready," said as he stood, weaving slightly.
AJ undid his pants and dropped them. He had gone commando so game over. Jordan won.
"Can I get dressed now," asked Nick.
"Sure Nicky," answered Jordan. "We all can. We are done with games tonight."
"But you haven't played with me yet."
Jordan turned to face Kevin.
"What?"
"I said you haven't played me yet."
"I'm not playing poker with you. Not now. Too much vodka. Too little sleep."
"Then high card, one hand."
"What's you going to play for," asked Nicky.
"Control," said Kevin.
"What," asked AJ.
"Control. We have a four day break coming up before going to Mexico. I say the winner has complete control of the loser for that time."
"Why would you want control of us," asked a confused Nick.
"I don't Nick."
"Nick he wants control of Jordan."
"Oh," said Nick looking at Jordan who had remained quiet.
"Jordan you up for it?"
"I don't have to."
"No but why wouldn't you? You seem to be on a roll tonight."
"I don't want control of you."
"Alright let's try this. I win I get control of you. You win I pay for you to spend those days being pampered and catered to."
"Wow! Do it Jordan. Kevin doesn't open his wallet like that often," encouraged AJ.
"What's the matter Jordan? Afraid I’ll win,” asked Kevin with a smirk.
Jordan poured two more shots. She handed one to Kevin and downed the other. Kevin never took his eyes off her as he drank the shot. It burned in his stomach. AJ started shuffling the cards. Nick leaned forward, resting his arms on the table, forgetting about his nudity. He exchanged a glance with AJ. The other two people in the room continued their staring contest. AJ set the cards in the center of the table. Kevin gestured for her to go first. Jordan picked up part of the deck, but left them face down. Kevin then picked his card. They held them up at the same time to reveal a six of diamonds and seven of spades.
"Woohoo Kevin wins," declared AJ.
"Shit," whispered Nick.
Kevin grabbed the bottle of vodka and poured two more shots. He handed one to Jordan, but she refused. She stood on wobbly legs and headed for the door.
"Where ya goin' Jordan," called Nick.
"Bed."
"Night," yelled AJ. "Nick get dressed and get your ass out of my room. I'm going to bed too."
"Night to you too Kevin," said Nick, as Kevin left the room.
"Let me get that," he directed, taking her room key from her.
"It's not time yet," she slurred.
"I know but putting your card in the wrong way will never get you into the room," he stated and pushed open the door.
The last thing Jordan remembered was falling on her bed.
Jordan woke the following morning and stretched. She closed her eyes again and thought back on the previous night. Reality jolted her awake.
She whispered, "fuck me. Never bet against a Backstreet Boy."
"I see you remember," said Kevin.
Jordan turned her head to see him sitting on the floor by her bed.
"Why are you here?"
"Making sure you're OK."
"I'm fine. You sat there all night."
"Yes."
"I see. And yes I remember."
She looked at him again. He saw something in her eyes that startled him. He saw fear and for a brief moment thought of letting her off the hook, then she spoke.
"I would appreciate you talking to Nick and AJ. I don't want this getting out. I was stupid last night. I gave in to them on playing strip poker. Also I think people finding out about this little thing we are about to do will only make things difficult."
"Why do you say that?"
"Gee it was one of the reasons Skip hired me. I wouldn't get involved or hung up on one of you."
"Are you hung up on me?"
"NO! However, I'm sure that you being in control will mean sex and that will cost me my job."
"No it won't."
"Yes it will."
"I'm the boss. It won't."
"Whatever, I don't want to be the laughing stock for the rest of the tour. Besides last time I checked the ring with all the pretty little diamonds in it tied you to your WIFE."
"Fine. I will go talk to them now. Oh and I see Delaney was telling the truth about something else."
"What?"
"You don't get hangovers."
After he left, Jordan lay on the bed. Her mind was racing. She couldn't focus. How could she let Kevin have control?
Later in the day, Jordan called Delaney when no one was around.
"Box Office."
"Delaney."
"Dan! What up?"
"I'm never coming back to Vegas."
"Poor baby did you loose all your money?"
"Try I paid up on my bet with AJ."
"Oooooh spill it!"
By the time Jordan had finished telling Delaney everything was speechless.
"Del say something."
"Fuck you," she exhaled.
"Exactly!"
"Well girl you made you bed."
"Not even funny," shot back Jordan.
"When is it happening again?"
"Next week during the break before Mexico."
"So you're not going to be home before then."
"No. Kevin and I worked it out. We're all flying to Orlando after the show. He gave me a key to the house earlier. I'm getting off the plane and taking a car straight to his house. He'll get there after me."
"So that's four days."
"And three nights. We get on a plane on the fourth day and head to Mexico."
"OK. Um Jordan?"
"Yeah?"
"You sure you can do this?"
"Yes," she said with finality.
"You do understand what I'm talking about. Right?"
"Yes Delaney I can have sex with Kevin and walk away."
"You are a stronger woman than me."
"No. I'm just more stubborn."
"Truer words were never spoken," laughed Delaney.
"Bite me."
"I will leave that to Kevin. So you have seen the two youngest BSB in the altogether."
Jordan laughed, "oh yes I have."
"And?"
"And remember you thoughts on the subject?"
"Yes?"
"You were correct."
"Damn don't tell me that! I can never look at Nick again. Did you take pictures?"
"Goodbye Delaney!"
"Oh fine bye!"
Chapter 11
Jordan let herself into Kevin's house through the front door and punched in the code to turn off the alarm. Dropping her stuff by the door, she entered the Greatroom and sat on the couch. She waited. Her foot nervously bounced. Pulling her cell out she hit speed dial.
"Box Office."
"Del I'm here."
"Kevin's house?"
"No the It's a Small World Ride at Disney. Yes Kevin's!"
"First girl breathe, because you are completely wigging."
"Tell me something I don't know."
"Take it Kevin's not there."
"No. He should be here soon."
"What does the house look like?"
"A Greatroom is a Greatroom."
"OK and the rest?"
"Don't know."
"Jordan," scolded Delaney.
"Delaney," replied Jordan, mimicking her friend's tone. "I can't go snooping around his house."
"Jordan you are going to be doing things in that house."
"Shhh. I can't think about that now."
"When the hell are you going to think about it? Jordan what are you doing?"
"Paying up on a bet."
"Bullshit!"
"Bullshit?"
"Yes Bullshit! Kevin Richardson has gotten so far inside your head."
"No!"
"Yes! I ask my question again, when this little thing is done can you walk away?"
"I'll walk away."
"I hope so."
"I think he's here. Bye," Jordan whispered as she hung up before Delaney could reply.
"Jordan?"
"In here."
Kevin rounded a corner and saw her sitting on a couch. "Hey. What are you doing?"
"Waiting for you."
"OK."
They were silent for a moment. Kevin didn't think it would be this awkward. Jordan looked ready to make a break for the front door. He had to relax her.
"Come on let's get the luggage moved into the bedroom. Then I can show you around."
"Alright."
Each had only brought a couple of bags. The rest of their things were being sent to Mexico with the rest of the gear. Jordan didn't look around as she followed him down the hall. She didn't want to see anything that reminded her of Kristin. Her resolve could only take so much. She had vowed she would never be the other woman. Once again she was reminded the word never has a way coming back biting you on the ass.
She was so lost in thought and still watching the carpet that she didn't realize Kevin stopped until she ran into him.
"Oops. Sorry."
"No problem, but Jordan…"
"Yeah?"
"Will you relax?"
"Relax? Relax? Ha! Very funny! Sure relax. Relax when I'm in your house. The house you share with your wife. Relax when I've just given you control of me for three days AND nights. Relax when I know you like to push things. Relax when I don't have a clue what's going to happen. Relax when at any moment someone could show up. OR the press could get wind of it and all hell breaks loose. Not to mention I'm afraid to look anywhere and see mementos of you and Kristin."
She silenced by Kevin's mouth pressed against hers.
"And…"
Again she was cut off by his lips.
Pulling away, he said, "Kristin is off working on a movie. Besides she never comes down here. Also this is my house not one I share with her, so you won't find her stuff all over the place. No one is going to find us here. No one will show up. And about me pushing things…let's just let things happen. Don't worry I won't bite unless you ask me too."
"Funny."
"Come on. Time to see the rest of the house."
Kevin pulled her through the house. He laughed when she noticed the chandelier in the foyer and the vaulted ceilings in the Greatroom. He realized just how nervous she was before he got there. Jordan always observed things, but she really had tunnel vision while waiting for him. He was glad there really wasn't anything connected to him and Kristin in the house. He knew Jordan would have run if she saw it. The last thing he wanted was for Jordan to run. He may not know how any of it would turn out or how he wanted it turn out, but he was certain he would do everything within his power to get behind this woman's walls.
"Nice house."
"Thanks."
"So what are we doing?"
"Hadn't thought much about it."
"Kevin you have me here for three days. What would you like for me to do?"
"Relax. I'm going to check emails and mail. Maybe make a few calls. Make yourself at home. I'll see you in a few."
Jordan watched him walk out of the room. What was his game? Now she was totally thrown. She thought he would have made her wait on him or something. Honestly, she thought he would want sex the second he got there. Now she didn't know whether to be relieved or insulted.
At a complete lost for what to do, she quietly went into the bedroom and pulled the book she was reading on the plane out of her bag. She went back to the Greatroom to read. It was in that spot that Kevin found her two hours later.
"Are you going stay on that couch the whole time you’re here," he teased.
"Sorry. I just don't know what to do."
After a moment he said, "let’s go for a swim."
Jordan again followed him down the hall. As they reached the bedroom, Kevin pulled his T-shirt over his head. Dropping it on the bed, he moved to his dresser. Jordan moved her bag of clothes to the bed. Hearing a zipper, Jordan's head shot up. Her eyes landed on Kevin just as he dropped his jeans to the floor and he was completely nude. His back was to her, but as he stepped out of the pants she got a clear shot between Kevin's legs. Kevin knew she was watching and took time putting on his trunks. As he pulled them on he turned around. Jordan immediately began rummaging around in her bag. Pulling out a one piece, she disappeared into the bathroom. Kevin was standing in front of the door when she opened it. Seeing him there caused her to jump.
"We need towels and they're in here," he said backing her into the bathroom.
"OK. Good to know."
Collecting the towels he took her hand and led her to the pool. Dropping the towels on a lounge chair, Kevin picked up Jordan and jumped in before she could react. She came up sputtering and he chuckled. Jordan surprised him when she started swimming laps. He was even more surprised when she caught him off guard and dunked him. He came up sputtering and she was laughing.
After a few minutes Kevin disappeared into the house to return with sun block. He insisted on putting it on Jordan and asked her to join him on the lounge.
Once she was covered, he asked her to do him. Jordan was shaking as she put lotion into her hands. Kevin asked her to start with his legs. She methodically worked her way up his legs. He then asked her to do his back and she complied. Finally he lay back on the lounge so she could do his front. In order to do that he helped her sit on him. He loved the feel of her hands on his skin, but still he knew she was not relaxed.
Sitting up he wrapped his arms around her saying, "Jordan here is my first request."
"Yes?"
"Forget everything outside of this property. For the next three days, nothing else exists. Enjoy the time here. We can enjoy this time and each other. Can you do that for me?"
He watched the war going on behind her eyes. Finally she let out a sigh and said, "I'll do it on one condition."
"Name it."
"This is just what it is, three days of fantasy and nothing else. When I leave here in three days we go back to the way we were before. Deal?"
"Deal."
Pushing wet hair, behind her ears he pulled her face closer and planted delicate kisses on her lips. He took her with him when he lay down. They lay on the lounge and talked. Sharing stories about themselves. As the sun hit its high point in the sky, they moved inside to eat lunch. Kevin had called and had food delivered the day before. They worked together to make sandwiches and a salad.
After lunch, they both gave in to their tour lag as Jordan called it. Kevin pulled her down on the couch with him and they took a nap.
Jordan woke to the smells of something Italian coming from the kitchen. She walked in to find Kevin standing in front of the stove in white drawstring linen pants. He turned when she made her presence known. He smiled at how she looked. She was still in her bathing suit and her hair was mused up. She rubbed the sleep out of her eyes as she looked at what he was stirring.
"Here taste," directed Kevin as he offered her a taste of the sauce.
Blowing on it then tasting she said, "mmmm that 's good Kevin."
"Thank you. Why don't you go take a quick shower to finish waking up. Dinner should be ready when you get out."
"Sounds like a good idea."
He smiled as he watched her leave the room, then went back to concentrating on cooking.
